In Where Winds Meet, your journey through the jianghu will reveal many secrets and diverse fighting styles. Learning these styles lets you customize your character’s combat with unique abilities and moves, helping you defeat challenging bosses.
The fan is a stylish and effective weapon that lets you attack from a distance. You can also use it to heal allies, making it great for a support role. We’ll show you the best ways to build a fan-based martial arts style, helping you combine grace with powerful attacks, no matter your experience in combat.
Best Inkwell Fan Builds

The fan isn’t the strongest weapon in a fight, but it’s good for keeping enemies at bay and adding a bit of flair to your combat. The Inkwell Fan fighting style lets you use quick attacks from a distance to hurt enemies, all while staying safe by raising your Jadewind Shield for defense.
This fighting style prioritizes inflicting damage and blocking attacks rather than healing. The Forsaken Flame move sends opponents flying, and the Glow and Flow heavy attack deals a solid amount of damage with its two-hit combo.
Okay, so when I’m gearing up, I’ve found the best results come from combining pieces from the Veil of the Willow and Beyond the Chill sets. It’s not about sticking to just one – mixing them up is the way to go!
Melee Inkwell Fan Build
If you want a character who’s strong at both close combat and long-range attacks, the Heavenquaker Spear martial art is a great choice. It lets you use spears for powerful ranged attacks, while also giving you effective melee options.
The spear’s area-of-effect attacks are great for managing groups of enemies, and your fan lets you attack from a distance. Using the Jadewind Shield effectively will make fights much easier, allowing you to defeat enemies while staying healthy.
Ranged Inkwell Fan Build
If you want to keep enemies at a distance, consider learning the Vernal Umbrella martial art. It works especially well with the Inkwell Fan, which launches opponents into the air and complements the umbrella’s long-range attacks.
You can create powerful attacks by combining the defense of the Jadewind Shield with a barrage of projectiles to take down enemies. This technique is most effective in the air, so it’s recommended that new players master at least one basic martial art before trying it.
For either melee or ranged build, you’ll want to equip the following Inner Way skills:
- Morale Chant. Gain stacks of Yi when attacking, increasing physical damage for a few seconds and stacking up to five times.
- Vital Leech. Restore HP equal to a small percentage of the damage dealt when casting an Exhaustion Execution skill.
- Adaptive Steel. With the spear, your attacks will ignore enemy armor.
- Star Reacher. Physical attack damage is increased when sending an enemy airborne.
Best Panacea Fan Builds

If you like the idea of both healing allies and dealing damage, the Panacea Fan martial art is a great choice. It lets you heal yourself and others, and even bring fallen teammates back into the fight.
Cloudburst healing lets you create a water clone where you are to recover health. Endless Cloud, on the other hand, uses all your collected Dewdrops to powerfully heal everyone nearby.
The Soulshade Umbrella will automatically trigger Endless Cloud if Echoing Grow is not on cooldown.
Melee Panacea Fan Build
If you enjoy close-combat combos, the Infernal Twinblades are a great choice, offering similar power to the Panacea Fan in a smaller package. They’re easy to learn and let you effectively heal and deal damage at the same time, without weakening either ability.
You can stay alive with your revive ability while using two blades for fast, close-range fighting. You’re skilled in both close and long-distance combat, letting you control any situation and quickly change your strategy as needed.
Look for armor and accessories from the Rainwhispers and Calmwaters sets!
Ranged Panacea Fan Build
The Soulshade Umbrella fighting style is unique because it’s the only other way to heal yourself in the game, making it really useful if you prefer playing alone. Combining it with another art lets you create a powerful fighting style that can attack from any distance and also heal effectively.
You can get through any fight by consistently using buffs and healing. Plus, the fan and umbrella aren’t just for defense – they can also shoot projectiles and push enemies back.
Okay, so if you’re building this character, the absolute best gear to aim for is from the Ivorybloom and Whirlsnow sets. Trust me, that’s where it’s at!
Regardless of your build, your ideal Inner Way setup is:
- Morale Chant. Gain stacks of Yi when healing or attacking, increasing physical damage or incoming healing for a few seconds and stacking up to five times.
- Echoes of Oblivion. The Infernal Twinblades apply Sin to enemies with normal light attacks, which allows you to ignore ten percent of their physical defense.
- Trapped Beast. When you take damage below 30 percent of your max HP, Cornered Beast triggers and generates a shield that absorbs up to 30 percent of your max HP, lasting for four seconds.
- Restoring Blossom. Critical Healing applies stacks of Nurturing, increasing the healing received by two percent for three seconds, up to three stacks.
