YouTuber Emily Canham reveals she’s given birth to her first child as she reflects on her ‘incredible’ labour after a ‘difficult’ pregnancy

YouTuber Emily Canham has announced she has given birth to her first child.

The social media personality, originally from Kettering, now resides in Los Angeles and ended her relationship with James Bourne of the band Busted last year.

Emily, 28, announced on Instagram that her baby has arrived, but she hasn’t shared whether it’s a boy or a girl yet.

Standing next to a pram in all black, Emily wrote: ‘Welcome to the world, little one.

Honestly, my labor and delivery were amazing! My pregnancy wasn’t easy, so I feel incredibly lucky that the actual birth went so well. Now, I’m just completely absorbed in learning the ropes of parenthood and trying to cherish every single moment with my little one. It’s a whirlwind, but the best kind!

‘Happy, healthy, grateful, and so incredibly content.’

She also wanted to be realistic about newborn exhaustion. She explained that being sleep-deprived with a new baby feels like having a never-ending sleepover where you get no sleep at all – night after night.

Emily’s partner, Mark, is a Californian entrepreneur and co-founder of Newlight Technologies, a company focused on sustainability.

The popular YouTuber, with over a million followers, shared the news of her pregnancy in August, expressing her immense excitement.

She announced on TikTok and Instagram that she’s thrilled to be expecting a baby.

‘I’ve never been more excited for a chapter in my life.

Family is incredibly important to me, and I’m still overjoyed to be starting a family with my fiancé!

‘Feeling overwhelmingly grateful and honestly just crazy excited to be a mom.’ 

Emily ended her relationship with James from the band Busted in 2023, and sources reported she was feeling positive about starting a new chapter.

According to a source, James and Emily have broken up and are both doing well as they move forward.

‘James has been non-stop with the tour and managing his time between the UK and his place in LA.’

In 2019, Emily and James were said to be ‘taking things slowly’ because of their 14-year age gap.  

She had a highly publicized split from YouTuber Jake Boys in February 2017, ending a three-year relationship. She said the breakup happened after she found out he was communicating with other women.

She met with him in November 2019 to film ‘the breakup video we never made’.

Emily met James through his brother and later told the Daily Mail she hadn’t been a fan of his band, Busted, when they were popular: ‘I wasn’t really into them back then.’

Okay, so I was totally listening to this influencer, and she was talking about Busted, and it was AMAZING! She said she didn’t grow up loving them or anything, but she discovered them when McFly toured with them, and she was like, ‘Wow, this is actually really good!’ It was so funny because she wasn’t a lifelong fan, she just stumbled upon them and instantly loved their music. I’m obsessed with both bands, so hearing her talk about it was just perfect!

Emily and James were friends for about a year before they began dating. She was cautious about rushing into a serious relationship because of their 14-year age difference.

Emily explained that she wasn’t sure about the relationship at first, mainly because of the significant age difference. She wanted to understand his intentions and establish a friendship before considering anything romantic, so they spent a long time just being friends.

At the time she admitted the couple hadn’t made any firm decisions about the future. 

We’re really happy, but both of our careers are also incredibly important to us, so we prioritize them just as much,” she said.

If he’s in London, he can stay at my place, and if I’m in LA, I can stay at his. We don’t need to rent a place together because we both have homes we can use whenever we’re in that city.
