How to solve the wall puzzle in Where Winds Meet

I’m really enjoying all the puzzles in Where Winds Meet! It’s not just about the fun minigames and chatting with the AI characters – there are puzzles everywhere, especially as you explore places like Qinghe and Kaifeng. I remember getting stuck early on during the Echoes of Old Battles quest. I was at the Northern Vow Ruins, and I had to figure out a wall puzzle before I could finish up there. It was a cool little challenge in that old, dusty fort!

Don’t worry, this puzzle isn’t as hard as it looks! You actually already have everything you need to solve it, thanks to the third clue you discovered. If you’d like to skip deciphering the Chinese writing, you can find a fast solution to the ‘Where Winds Meet’ puzzle below.

Where Winds Meet wall puzzle solution

To unlock the wall puzzle, press the symbols in this order: 漂, 百, and 移. This will form the phrase from your clue – “山 河 寸 土, 誓 死 不 易” – without the comma. The comma simply shows which part of the phrase goes on the left wall and which goes on the right.

On the left wall, you only push in the 漂 letter to create the glowing word 山 河 寸 土.

百

On the right wall first push in the 百 symbol.

移

Next on the right wall also press 移 to create the glowing word 誓 死 不 易.

It’s okay if you make a mistake and enter the wrong letters – you can easily remove them. If you forget the clue, just press the ‘L’ key to see it again.

This is the solution to the wall puzzle found in the Northern Vow Ruins during the Echoes of Old Battles quest in Qinghe. Remember that other wall puzzles in the game may have different answers.

After finishing the Tomb Raider section, head through the newly opened door and grab the items from the chest nearby. This will lead you to the waterwheel area. I’m calling it a puzzle because it took me a bit longer to figure out than the previous one, but it’s actually quite simple: just go behind the waterfall and activate the stone pedestal to unlock the next door.

Before heading through that door, be sure to open the two chests near the waterwheel, and don’t forget the chest in the small room behind it. You can always use more Echo Jades!

Now that’s done, you’ve pretty much completed the Echoes of Old Battles quest. All that’s left is to open the gold chest in the next room and read the message on the back wall.

To continue this storyline, find Lie Buxi near the river, northwest of the Northern Vow Ruins. After some time has passed, return to the Northern Vow Ruins and talk to the two men standing outside the entrance to the hidden underground area. You might encounter some trouble with the AI chatbots during these steps, so be prepared!
