XRP ETF: Ticker Trouble! 🤪

Now, wouldn’t you know it, folks? Bitwise Asset Management has declared their newfangled contraption – a spot exchange-traded fund trackin’ XRP – is set to appear on the scene this Thursday. And they’ve named it… ā€œXRP.ā€ Bless their hearts. šŸ™„

It’s comin’ to the New York Stock Exchange, no less. The internet chatter, as they call it these days, was a mix of applause and a good deal of head-scratchin’. Seems a body might get their XRPs in a twist, tryin’ to tell the difference ‘tween the actual XRP and this XRP. A right pickle, I tell ya!

Typically, these crypto ETFs, they call ’em, they put the name of the outfit makin’ ’em alongside the thing they’re trackin’. Like Fidelity’s FBTC and ARK Invest’s ARKB for Bitcoin. Or Bitwise’s own BSOL for Solana and BlackRock’s ETHA for Ether. Makes a lick of sense, doesn’t it? But ā€œXRPā€…well, that’s somethin’ else entirely!

XRP ETF ticker is on-brand, but confusing

Old man Krippenreiter – a feller who claims to understand these here digital whatsits – he asked how on earth they managed to snag ā€œXRPā€ for their ticker. He reckons we’ll all be writin’ whole books just to ‘splain the difference ‘tween XRP the thing, and XRP the Bitwise ETF. Goodness gracious!

Others were wonderin’ how such a thing slipped past the fellas with the red tape and whatnot. ā€œHow can this be allowed?ā€ one feller, Elliot, sputtered. ā€œThere ain’t no ETF callin’ itself ‘BTC,’ is there?ā€ A fair question, if I do say so myself.

Some, naturally, were all for it, cheerin’ Bitwise on for their boldness. Can’t please everyone, now, can we?

A clever engineer named Vincent Van Code – a feller with a head for figures, no doubt – suggested there might be more to this than meets the eye. He thinks the real XRP might become the fancy wholesale version, while the rest of us simple folk’ll be tradin’ the ETF. A grand scheme, if you ask me… or maybe it’s just a coincidence. Who knows with these newfangled inventions?

Second XRP ETF for Bitwise

Now, Bitwise filed this little doohickey with the government fellas back in October of ’24. They already launched a similar thing in Europe a spell ago, callin’ it GXRP.

Mr. Hougan, the feller in charge of Bitwise’s spendin’, says XRP is ā€œintriguingā€ – a word these Wall Street types are mighty fond of these days. He says it’s been workin’ nicely for a long time, costs next to nothin’, handles a heap of transactions and has a ā€œvibrant community.ā€ Which is to say, folks are excited about it. 🤷

ā€œIn this new age of regulations, XRP’s standin’ on equal ground with every other digital doodad. Now, we’ll all get to see what it’s truly capable of.ā€

More XRP ETFs incoming

Canary Capital’s ETF, XRPC, started tradin’ on the 13th of November, and brought in over $250 million on its very first day! A mountain of money, I tell ya!

Old Seyffart, a feller who keeps an eye on these ETF shenanigans, he says there’s plenty more comin’. He’s bettin’ Grayscale and Franklin Templeton will be launchin’ their XRP ETFs this coming November the 24th.

And Mr. Hougan, he says with the government squabbles finally settled, he’s expectin’ a whole ā€œETF-paloozaā€ – over 100 of ā€˜em launchin’! Heavens to Betsy, it’s a regular gold rush, I declare!
