Khloe Kardashian has revealed she is suffering from chronic Sarmassophobia.
Khloé, age 41, shared the comment during a recent episode of her podcast, ‘Khloe In Wonder Land,’ while talking with her sister, Kim Kardashian.
Sarmassophobia is a strong, illogical fear of dating, falling in love, or getting close to someone romantically, as explained by Psychology Today. This fear causes people to actively avoid relationships and experience a lot of anxiety, but it’s often treatable with therapy.
She’s likely experiencing emotional distress following infidelity by both her former partner, Tristan Thompson (father of her children True, seven, and Tatum, three), and her ex-husband, Lamar Odom.
Daily Mail has talked to Beverly Hills psychologist Dr Levine about her struggles.
‘Having a fear of dating after being hurt many times in the past is quite normal,’ he shared.
He added that she needed time to heal from past heartbreak. It’s common for people who’ve been hurt repeatedly in love to shy away from new relationships, and instead, pour their energy into their careers or families – or both.
If Khloe wants to start dating again, she could try gradually easing back into it. A good approach would be to start with low-pressure dates, perhaps casual daytime outings, to build her confidence.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, can help someone understand the underlying reasons for their fear. It encourages self-reflection – asking questions like, ‘What’s really stopping me?’ or ‘Am I afraid of being cheated on, rejected, or simply of being open and vulnerable?’
Healing requires facing difficult memories, but the effort is ultimately worthwhile.
Khloé Kardashian, the designer behind Good American, recently revealed she hasn’t been intimate with anyone for three years, following her breakup with basketball player Tristan Thompson.
Khloe said on her podcast she finds the thought of dating again ‘so scary.’
I was chatting with Kim the other day, and she was surprisingly candid about her dating life. I asked if she’d been seeing anyone, and she just laughed and said, ‘Honestly, no. It’s wild, right?’ It really struck me how open she was about it!
Kim Kardashian, who studied law, explained that she hasn’t been able to focus on her studies recently, and she’s content with that. She had initially planned to dedicate her time to studying, expecting it would fill most of her schedule.
Kim then asked Khloé the same question, and Khloé confessed it’s been hard for her lately. She admitted, ‘It’s intimidating to start dating again after being out of it for so long.’
Honestly, I feel so much safer now than I ever did before. I really can’t emphasize enough how much I disliked the way things used to be, and I absolutely don’t want to revisit that time in my life. It’s a huge relief to finally feel secure.
She admitted she couldn’t continue living with such constant fear, wondering if that even made sense to say.
After Thompson repeatedly cheated on her, Khloe realized she might benefit from therapy to address her fears. She admitted, ‘I probably need to go to therapy for that.’
Khloe was married to Lamar Odom from 2009 to 2013. He recently entered a rehabilitation program following an arrest for driving under the influence.
