A major update has been released for one of the first and most extensive Elden Ring mods. This mod significantly changes the game’s core mechanics, allowing players to create more customized experiences in The Lands Between.
Okay, so Elden Ring: Reforged is a massive update! It basically lets you customize how hard the game is, and there’s a new system for upgrading your runes. They’ve also added some cool new combat moves like deflecting and dodging, plus a ton of new weapons and bosses to fight. They didn’t stop there though – they completely reworked the magic, weight, and stamina systems, which should make a lot more builds actually work. And on top of all that, there are even brand new ways to play the game!
The original version of the mod lacked multiplayer functionality because FromSoftware doesn’t allow modified games to connect to their official servers. However, the new 2.0 version of Elden Ring: Reforged fixes this by including a custom server, allowing for a fully working multiplayer experience that feels just like the official game.
Update 2.0 brings all the features you’d expect for playing Elden Ring with friends – you can now summon others for help, invade their worlds, and leave messages. Plus, according to its Nexus Mods page, Reforged offers enhanced seamless co-op, meaning you can play together with friends beyond just boss battles.
Reforged also alters Elden Ring’s multiplayer by restricting player-versus-player invasions to dungeons. The developers did this because they feel dungeons create more engaging invasion scenarios, allowing players to use the surroundings and enemies strategically.
Update 2.0 isn’t just about playing with others – it also adds to the game’s world. The Roundtable Hold now includes The Gilded Court, a dedicated area for player duels. Plus, a new dungeon, the Serpentine Depths, has been added under Mt. Gelmir, letting players explore the story of Praetor Rykard.
The update also includes many smaller improvements, such as new weapons, spirit ashes, and spells – including three incantations from a new ‘Prince of Death’ category. Players also gain a sliding dodge maneuver, adding another option for evading attacks.
Elden Ring fans had a big week, as FromSoftware revealed its first expansion, Nightreign. Titled The Forsaken Hollows, the DLC dramatically changes the Limveld area with a cataclysmic event called The Great Hollow. It also adds two new characters you can play as, and brings back a beloved boss from the Dark Souls series – Artorias of the Abyss.
