Netflix has given fans a sneak peek at its upcoming thriller, The Whisper Man, which is set to be released this summer. The movie is based on the popular novel by Alex North and tells the story of a village living in fear of a dangerous killer who was believed to be behind bars years ago.
Okay, so I just read the plot of this new thriller, and it sounds intense! Basically, a crime writer loses his son, and he has to team up with his dad – who used to be a detective – to find him. But get this, the case they stumble into is connected to a really old, creepy serial killer they called ‘The Whisper Man.’ It’s supposed to be a decades-old mystery, and it looks like it’s coming back to haunt them. Pretty wild, right?
Several children have gone missing in town, leading people to wonder if the dangerous Whisper Man is back. Meanwhile, questions are being raised about the identity of the person currently in jail.

The film will be available to stream starting August 28th, featuring Adam Scott as Tom Kennedy, a writer. Newcomer Acston Luca Porto plays his son, Jake, and Robert De Niro stars as Tom’s father, Peter Willis.
The film also stars Michelle Monaghan, known from The White Lotus, Hamish Linklater from Midnight Mass, Owen Teague who appeared in It, and Will Brill of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
What to Read Next
Early previews hint at a chilling story, showing Tom and Peter searching a town for children who have disappeared. One image features the worried police officers, headed by Monaghan’s character, investigating an unsettling outdoor scene, likely looking for clues.
Another scene shows young Jake and his father walking by a bulletin board with a missing child poster on it. Little do they know, this poster hints at Jake’s future disappearance, which ultimately drives Tom to investigate the serial killer.

Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer wrote the screenplay for The Whisper Man, and James Ashcroft directed it. This film is the sixth project resulting from a partnership between Netflix and AGBO, the production company founded by the Russo brothers.
We’re thrilled to start working on our sixth movie with Netflix, our fantastic partners,” said Angela Russo-Otstot, AGBO’s Chief Creative Officer.
I just finished The Whisper Man, and wow, it really stuck with me! It’s a super thrilling ride, but what I loved most was the really touching and complicated relationship between fathers and sons. And honestly, having Robert De Niro in it just made everything even better – he’s such a phenomenal actor. Plus, James Ashcroft did an amazing job directing!
The Whisper Man will stream on Netflix on 28 August.
Okay, so I just grabbed the latest issue of Living Legends, and it’s completely dedicated to Sir David Attenborough! It’s a really cool 100-page, full-color tribute. You can find it at any newsstand or order it online – definitely recommend checking it out if you’re a fan!
