Everstone Studio and NetEase Games have released a new trailer for their upcoming open-world RPG, *Where Winds Meet*. The trailer showcases the game’s expansive world, highlighting things to do outside the main story, how different game systems work, the plants and animals you’ll encounter, and the combat. You can watch it below.
The trailer for *Where Winds Meet* gives a great look at the expansive open world players will explore, including the towns they can visit and various side activities like street fights, shows, and card games. It appears the game will also offer a lot of side quests, letting players do things like pickpocket people and battle challenging enemies, including massive bears.
This new trailer highlights the game’s world, but a previous trailer from September showed off the combat and story in Where Winds Meet. That earlier footage featured quick, dynamic battles, emphasizing player freedom in choosing weapons and creating unique attack combinations.
Last July, Chris Lyu, the lead designer for *Where Winds Meet*, discussed the studio’s goal to create a truly unique gaming experience. He also shared insights into the difficulties they faced during development and how players reacted to the game in early testing.
Lyu explained that their main goal for the project was to build a deeply engaging and immersive world. They faced numerous challenges during development, as no other studio had attempted a game quite like it, leaving them with few examples to follow. He also noted the game has been well-received overall, particularly in China.
We’ve received a really positive reaction to the game, with lots of great reviews coming in,” Lyu explained. “Players were spontaneously discussing it on platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu, sharing gameplay videos that sparked a lot of conversation. People also really connected with the story; many players were moved to tears by certain scenes, which led to a lot of buzz around the game.
The free-to-play RPG, *Where Winds Meet*, launches on PC and PlayStation 5 on November 14th. If you’re curious about the gameplay, a 10-minute showcase from July revealed a lot – expect fast-paced action, including quick movement, side quests, and battles against both large groups and powerful single enemies. You can also find our impressions of the closed beta if you’d like to learn more.
The game Where Winds Meet recently released a trailer in July that highlighted General Wang Qing, a key character, and showed how his choices shaped the events of the story.
