Discover everything you need to know about Omega Planetes, the latest monster revealed for Monster Hunter Wilds, and find out if it’s possible to take it down on your own.

Omega Planetes is definitely the hardest monster to fight in the base game of Monster Hunter Wilds. The new monster introduced in Title Update 3 is more challenging than tough opponents like Tempered Gore Magala, Tempered Seregios, and even Arkveld, the game’s main monster. The 8-Star version is already incredibly difficult, and the 9-Star (Savage) version is even harder.
Omega, similar to other team-focused monsters in the game, is designed for cooperative hunts. It’s a challenging “raid boss” in Monster Hunter World, featuring several phases, each with unique mechanics. Unlike most monsters in the game, Omega is really meant to be fought with a complete group of hunters.
However, with the right build and strategy, you can defeat Omega Planetes in single-player (solo).

How To Defeat Omega Planetes in Monster Hunter Wilds’ Solo Mode?

Omega Planetes is designed for team battles. Because of this, the game always adjusts its health as if there are four players when you attempt the Planetes Protocol quest in multiplayer. This means even if you only have two players, you’ll face a version of Omega Planetes with the health of a four-player challenge. The same applies if you bring in Support Hunters to help with the fight.
Similar to the Behemoth in Monster Hunter World, Omega Planetes is designed to be fought by a team of four players. However, if you choose to take on the quest alone without calling for help, Omega will have much less health. Importantly, the monster’s behavior and attack patterns remain the same whether you’re playing with others or tackling it solo.
It is possible to defeat Omega Planetes by yourself with a good character build and enough practice. We found that the Hammer, Great Sword, Dual Blades, Switch Axe, and Insect Glaive work best for solo attempts. While the Gunlance was tested, it felt a little slow for this fight. We also suggest using builds focused on elemental damage.
The first part of the Omega Planetes quest is fairly simple. But if you’re playing alone, the hardest parts will be defeating the Nerscylla in the third phase and finishing the final phase of Omega.

Tips To Defeat Omega Planetes Solo

Here are some tips that will help you defeat Omega Planetes solo:
- Before you head into the Planetes Protocol quest, make sure to carry Farcaster, Armorskin, and Demondrug. We cannot emphasise enough how useful these three items are in this quest. You can also carry Dust of Life, but it’s not necessary. Also, make sure to bring the Soul of the Pictomancer. Pictomancy is incredibly useful to deal passive damage.
- For the first two phases, your primary objective will be to focus on dealing damage to Omega. Also, make sure to use your mounting attack in the second phase; that way, it will recharge by the time you reach the final phase.
- For the third and fourth phases, you want to focus on survivability above everything. Also, since you’re playing solo, you don’t really need to focus on the enmity system. However, unless you’re using Sword and Shield or the Lance, we recommend sticking to Omega’s legs. Hitting the monster’s head will result in you gaining enmity, which can make the fight needlessly more difficult.
- For the third phase, you want to focus on breaking Omega’s hind legs. Also, if you manage to topple Omega, don’t forget to attack its Axle (siren-like appendage on top). Also, make sure to pick up the Shield when you topple Omega. You’ll want to save the Shields for post-Nerscylla phases.
- As for the Nerscylla, make sure to bring one Fire weapon. Fire deals a ton of additional damage to the Temnoceran, which you’ll need to meet the DPS check.
Additional Notes
Beyond these suggestions, the most important thing is to stay concentrated on Omega and avoid attacking too quickly. Keep in mind that Omega is a challenging optional monster best tackled with friends or by hiring Support Hunters. If you’re struggling to defeat it alone, remember you can always use Monster Hunter Wilds’ multiplayer options for help.
