Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy (yes, that’s a thing), has made a rather bold claim that Bitcoin is the “next frontier” for national reserves and corporate balance sheets. Apparently, Bitcoin isn’t just some virtual coin with a weird name, but rather the financial superhero every company never knew they needed. Unlike cash or share buybacks that sit there doing… well, nothing exciting, Bitcoin actually strengthens finances in a way that no one saw coming. Kind of like the nerdy kid who suddenly becomes the cool kid in school, except this kid has a digital wallet instead of a gym bag.
In a recent chat with CNBC (because where else would billionaires hang out?), Saylor predicted that Bitcoin could outgrow gold by *ten times* in the not-too-distant future. Yes, you heard that right-Bitcoin is about to give gold the side-eye and stroll past it like it’s on a fast-track to financial domination. Why? Because corporate treasuries and investors around the globe are waking up to the digital revolution, apparently.
“Bitcoin is money, everything else is credit,” Saylor said, as if he was casually dropping the mic on the entire financial world. There it is, folks, the digital asset that thinks it’s better than gold. (Sorry, gold-time to go sit in the corner with your glittery friends.)
Today with @MorganLBrennan, I discussed the differences between Bitcoin, Gold, and other crypto networks – and the rise of Digital Treasury Companies, Digital Credit, and Digital Finance.

Bitcoin vs. Gold: The Ultimate Showdown
Gold, which has been around for, oh, a few thousand years, is still out there trying to break its own records. But Saylor, ever the Bitcoin evangelist, is quick to point out that Bitcoin is not only borderless but also programmable and-wait for it-tariff-free. “You can’t teleport gold,” he quipped, and let’s be real, teleportation has *always* been the gold standard for any self-respecting asset.
But it’s not just the gold versus Bitcoin battle that’s heating up. Saylor highlights that capital is *actively* moving out of gold and into Bitcoin. Why? Because, apparently, dealing with gold means you might have to pay customs fees and possibly worry about some dodgy logistical risks. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is basically the super chill friend who shows up at your party, no questions asked.
Corporate Treasuries Jump on the Bitcoin Bandwagon
And then there’s the corporate side of things, where things are getting *real* interesting. Strategy, the company Michael Saylor heads (who knew Strategy was a real company?), recently splashed out $99.7 million to buy 850 BTC. That brings their total Bitcoin holdings to an eye-watering *640,000 coins*. Yep, that’s not a typo. Meanwhile, Metaplanet of Japan added $632 million to its Bitcoin reserves, and OranjeBTC from Brazil has now bought 3,650 bitcoins, totaling $385 million. So, who’s the new corporate Bitcoin overlord in Latin America? That’s right-OranjeBTC. Maybe they should start a reality show? Bitcoin: Corporate Wars.
According to some hardcore data from Bitcointreasuries, over 190 publicly traded companies are now holding Bitcoin. Not to mention, institutional holdings have surpassed a whopping 1.5 million BTC. ETFs from big shots like BlackRock are also adding coins to their stash. So, if you’re wondering whether Bitcoin’s price is going up, just check your nearest corporate balance sheet for some answers.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $112,677, and its 24-hour trading volume looks like it was typed out by an over-caffeinated intern (49,60,02,39,11). According to CoinMarketCap, the coin has fallen by a minuscule 0.03% in the last 24 hours. But don’t sweat it-Bitcoin’s live market cap is still sitting at a cool $2.24 trillion.
Sure, Bitcoin is volatile (shocker!), but it’s slowly and surely becoming an addition to the conventional stores of value, like gold. So, no, Bitcoin won’t replace everything just yet-but give it time. The digital asset revolution is coming, and it’s bringing popcorn.
