The dust settles on the plains of investment, and a wind blows-a wind of numbers and opinions. Mudrex, a name whispered amongst those chasing digital gold, went askinâ folks what they thought about this crypto business. Nine thousand souls, a cross-section of India, weighed in on regulation, taxes⌠the whole shebang. They called it âWhat India Thinks,â which is a fancy name for askinâ people what they think. Seems simple enough, right?
Turns out, 93% of âem want somebody keepinâ an eye on things. Ninety-three percent! Thatâs a whole lotta folks sayinâ, âHey, maybe someone should know whatâs goinâ on here.â Half of âem want a proper framework, you know, rules and protection, the whole nine yards. A quarter reckon a light touch would do, let innovation breathe. And 13%? They just want the taxman cominâ, not botherinâ with anything else. Smart folks, those 13%. Sometimes you just gotta pay to play.
1/5 India is already the global leader in #crypto adoption đ
But beyond headlines, what do everyday investors really think?
We conducted one of the countryâs largest surveys to capture investor voices, across age, income and profession, on:
âď¸ Regulation
đ Behaviour & TrendsâŚ
Edul Patel, the head man at Mudrex, figured this all out, apparently. He says India’s already chasin’ the crypto dragon, got the folks, the hunger, and the size to make somethinâ happen. He says folks arenât scared of rules, just the not knowinâ of âem. Seems reasonable. Like tryinâ to plant a crop without knowinâ the seasons. You’ll just end up with a lot of wilted hopes.
Taxes: The Real Thief
But hold your horses-the real teethinâ trouble isn’t the rules themselves, it’s the taxes. Eighty-four percent of folks think the current system is about as fair as a one-legged man in a kickinâ contest. Two-thirds say that 30% tax on gains is a straight-up deterrent. Strikes you as odd, don’t it? They wanna invest, but gotta give nearly a third of it away. You can’t offset losses, worried about scams, and a little bit nickeled and dimed with these little taxes too. It’s enough to make a man reconsider the whole affair, maybe go back to buryinâ somethin’ in the yard.
Nearly nine out of ten said theyâd toss more money in if the government could just make up its mind. Fifty-five percent are itchinâ to do just that, and another 35% would be swayed by lower taxes. Seems like a simple enough proposition, doesnât it? Let folks invest, and they will. Who knew?
Lookinâ Down the Road
Most folks ain’t lookin’ for a quick flip. Sixty-four percent reckon crypto is buildin’ somethin’ for the long haul. A few are just curious, huntinâ a fast profit, or lookinâ to shield their money from inflation. But a little over 4 % are still justâŚlookinâ around. Bless their hearts. Sometimes a man just needs a little time to figure things out.
Where the News Comes From
Folks are gettin’ the info from YouTube mostly, thatâs 43%. News folks come in at 19%, friends and family 15%, and X at 14%. Feels a little sad, don’t it? Folks trustin’ strangers on the internet more thanâŚwell, anything else. And nearly 80% are sayinâ Indiaâs late to the party. Time to catch up, they say. Or maybe just watch the party from the window.
It’s all cominâ down to clarity, fair taxes, and rules that make sense. Indiaâs takin’ a step, tryin’ to find its place on the digital landscape. And those investors? Theyâre waitinâ. Like a farmer waitin’ for the rain. Hopin’ for a good harvest, and not a flood.
