The recent data leak from Elden Ring’s Nightreign development unveils plans for a continuous ranked game mode named ‘Depths of Night’.
The developers of Elden Ring, FromSoftware, are consistently adding fresh content to the game for players to enjoy. They’ve recently introduced Duos mode and a new batch of Everdark Sovereigns. Notably, it appears they may be planning to introduce a completely new game mode for the title as well.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Endless Ranked Mode Has Skill-Based Matchmaking
According to a recent Reddit post highlighted by PC Gamer, there’s an upcoming game mode for Elden Ring Nightreign titled ‘Deep of Night’. This mode is set to be found within the Expeditions menu and was discovered through data mining during the duos mode update. As per the description, players won’t have the option to pick their targets, with the difficulty escalating as you venture deeper into the game. With each victory, your rating climbs higher, enabling progress to even more challenging depths. The final statement hints that this unending darkness extends infinitely.
In Elden Ring Nightreign’s perpetual ranked mode, player performance is tracked using a system called ‘Depth’. Each win boosts your Depth rating while each loss lowers it. There are five Depth Tiers to advance through: Tier 1 (Rating 0-999), Tier 2 (Rating 1000-1999), Tier 3 (Rating 2000-3999), Tier 4 (Rating 4000-5999), and Tier 5 (Rating 6000 and above). Once a player is promoted to a higher tier, they cannot be demoted. Furthermore, players will compete against others with the same Depth level; if there aren’t enough participants in that tier, matches may include opponents from other tiers as well.
Despite this, players are advised to approach the information cautiously since it hasn’t been verified by an official source. They should await an announcement from FromSoftware for confirmation.
