60 Minutes of Phantom Blade Zero Gameplay Footage Surfaces Online
Video clips lasting an hour showcasing the gameplay of Phantom Blade Zero have popped up online, providing fans with their most comprehensive sneak peek so far. This upcoming action role-playing game (ARPG) in the wuxia genre is being developed by S-Game, a studio based in China, and boasts a high-speed, extravagant combat system that has already generated industry buzz. Phantom Blade Zero (PBZ) is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC, with a tentative launch date of 2025, and a predicted window for release in 2026.
Previously unveiled during the 2023 PlayStation State of Play event, “Phantom Blade Zero” is labeled as a “wuxia action game,” blending influences from various genres to create an original and distinctive gaming experience. S-Game has previously showcased clips of “Phantom Blade Zero’s” gameplay, even revealing a complete boss battle earlier this year. However, the recent circulating footage provides a more comprehensive exploration than previous glimpses.
Several YouTube channels like GamersPrey have shared gameplay footage lasting approximately 50 to 60 minutes of the demo version of “Phantom Blade Zero”, offering glimpses into its combat mechanics, level structure, and diverse enemies. This content was generated from S-Party, a two-day event organized by S-Game in Beijing on July 26-27, which granted selected players and content creators the opportunity to record and publish their experiences playing a demo build of the game.
60-Minute Phantom Blade Zero Demo Gameplay Video
Based on feedback from attendees, the trial version of Phantom Blade Zero presented three difficulty levels: Breaker, Initiate, and Defier. Contrary to previous rumors, only three difficulty options were available in this demo, not four as initially speculated. It remains uncertain whether the leaked information was incorrect or if the complete game will offer the missing option. Those who attempted the hardest setting reported a very demanding gaming experience, with some players struggling to reach the initial boss.
Soulframe Liang, the mastermind behind PBZ and S-Game CEO, has consistently maintained that Phantom Blade Zero doesn’t fit neatly into the categories of Soulslike or traditional action games; instead, he believes it carves its own unique niche. The recently released gameplay footage seems to validate his assertion. Players who have tried the game describe it as a fusion of Devil May Cry, Sekiro, and Ninja Gaiden, with elements from Soulslike games like bonfires and Estus Flasks added in for good measure.
Many people are curious if the game Phantom Blade Zero will achieve the same level of success as Black Myth: Wukong, given that the excitement for S-Game’s genre-mashing title is equally, if not more, intense. We can expect to see more gameplay for PBZ in the near future, as it will be showcased at China Joy 2025, taking place from August 1-4. Additionally, global fans will have an opportunity to try out PBZ themselves, as its demo is scheduled for Gamescom 2025, which runs from August 20-24.
