How New Game Plus Works In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Are you intrigued by the New Game Plus feature in ‘Wuchang: Fallen Feathers‘? Similar to its application in soulslike and role-playing games, New Game Plus allows you to begin a new journey with the items and abilities you acquired during your initial playthrough. However, be aware that Wuchang has some unique twists on this concept which might catch you off guard. Just a heads up, this discussion may include minor spoilers.

What to expect in New Game Plus in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Once you finish the campaign and reach an ending, a new playthrough option known as “New Game Plus” will become accessible. Following the end credits, you’ll be directed back to the main menu where you’ll find an option labeled “Causality Reversal.” This is the name given by the game for the New Game Plus mode. At present, we can’t display an image, but this term should guide you to the desired option.

Should you start New Game Plus mode?

It turns out that an unusual requirement exists: You must initiate Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ New Game Plus mode only after you have successfully completed the game.

Regardless of whether you choose “Causality Reversal”, “Continue” or “Load Game”, they all lead to starting a New Game Plus from the game’s introduction. However, keep in mind that your initial save data will be erased as well.

As a devoted player, I must confess that navigating through the game might pose some challenges if certain items or spells were overlooked during my initial play. What sets this experience apart from others is the unique approach to the New Game Plus feature. Unlike other games where this option is readily available via the main menu, here you still have the flexibility to reload your original save.

Is there a way to avoid New Game Plus mode?

If you haven’t reached the point where you can start New Game Plus in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers yet, remember to create a secondary save file prior to finishing the main storyline. Our solution for this on the PC (Steam) version of the game was to make use of a backup save option.

  • Prior to obtaining an ending, we exited the game so we could have a backup of the save state.
  • The files/folders that you need are in the “C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Project_Plague” directory.
  • Copy the whole “Saved” folder and place it somewhere else.

To restore the project to its earlier version, just put the “Saved” folder into the “Project_Plague” directory and replace all files within it. After that, run Wuchang and select “Load Game” from the primary menu.

In simple terms, even though the saved game title appears as “Causality Reversal 1” or “New Game +1”, this is nothing to worry about. This is primarily because of the cloud feature. When you resume the game from this save point, you’ll discover that you’re back at the exact location where your original game was saved.

What carries over and what changes in New Game Plus?

Here’s what you can expect in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ New Game Plus mode:

  • You carry over all your equipment/gear pieces, Red Mercury, unlocked skills, spells, temperance needles, and the like.
  • Enemies will be tougher this time around.
  • Jade Pendants and Benedictions that you pick up have a +1 coefficient, which means their effects are more potent.
  • Vendors still sell the same items. You can’t purchase stuff that can’t have duplicates–i.e. spells.
  • If you loot items that can’t have duplicates–i.e. Manna Vase upgrades and spells–you’ll receive Red Mercury-related materials instead.
  • Panda Bamboozlings/Bamboo Shoots and Inner Demons that you killed before will respawn in the same locations. You should be able to amass more of their rewards.
  • You have to reacquire quest items. You can tackle quests that you weren’t able to complete previously.
