Elden Ring Nightreign: The Raider Without Armor Looks Like Andre from Dark Souls

Initially, there was a lot of doubt about Elden Ring: Nightreign when it was first unveiled. Frankly, nobody thought this cooperative roguelike would thrive, but look at us now. To our surprise, the game has been performing admirably and draws thousands of players each day.

One delightful feature of the spin-off game Nightreign is its strong link with the original Elden Ring title. You’ll encounter numerous characters, enemies, and even storylines that echo the main game. Yet, Nightreign doesn’t merely borrow elements from Elden Ring; it skillfully weaves them in a unique way to create its own distinct identity.

Could it be that you’re noticing a resemblance between the Raider and Andre when he’s not wearing his armor, given the hints that this game shares with Dark Souls?

Dark Souls‘ Andre lives on in Elden Ring: Nightreign

It’s accurate to point out that the Raider is among the top-tier Nightfarers in Nightreign. Equipped with everything essential for survival against formidable foes – a large health reserve, massive weaponry, and robust armor – he can withstand an onslaught of attacks from enemies and retaliate effectively using the damage absorbed.

Wearing the Raiders’ standard costume conceals the man beneath the intimidating mask, making him unrecognizable. Switching to his Remembrance Outfit, however, offers an unobstructed view of his visage. This seasoned warrior has endured grueling battles and emerged victorious despite facing the toughest adversities.

If you’re familiar with Dark Souls, you’ll straightaway recognize that the unarmored Raider bears a striking resemblance to Andre. To be precise, he shares the same physical build, long gray hair, and facial features as the character from Dark Souls. It’s not just a coincidence; FromSoftware is known for incorporating references to their other intellectual properties.

It’s no wonder that FromSoftware decided to pay tribute to Andre in Nightreign. Given how crucial his iconic blacksmith character is, it’s hard to imagine us successfully overcoming the grueling challenges of the Soulslike series without him.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is making waves on Steam

It is clear that all those who doubted Nightreign and hoped for its decline have been shown wrong with each new update and patch for the game. By examining the data from SteamDB, you’ll find that the cooperative title reached another high point of more than 160,000 players on June 19th.

What makes Nightreign exceptional now? In its latest update, it introduced Everdark Sovereign encounters. Essentially, these are enhanced Nightlords with additional attack patterns and a fiercer combat approach. It’s not wise to confront these tough opponents solo.

At present, the only Everdark Sovereign boss that’s available in Nightreign is Gaping June. He will no longer be around after June 25th, 2025. Remember this, as you can only engage him in his new form if you have previously defeated the standard version of the Nightlord.

In upcoming updates, players can expect to encounter more Everdark Sovereigns, as FromSoftware has confirmed. Yet, there’s a section within the gaming community who speculate that the developer might introduce a new kind of boss entirely.
