đ¨ Breaking News: A US Congressman is accusing TikTok’s Chinese owners of trying to bribe Trump with $300 million worth of TRUMP meme coins. Because, you know, that’s exactly what the Founding Fathers meant by “foreign diplomacy” đ.
TikTok is having a rough time, facing regulatory challenges left and right. But they’re pushing back, denying all the claims and basically saying, “Uh, no, we’re good.”
So, here’s what happened: Trump issued an executive order giving TikTok a 90-day extension to find a buyer. Because, apparently, 170 million US users isn’t enough to make them go, “Hey, we should probably just comply with the law already.”
This is the third time Trump has postponed the deadline, and Congressman Brad Sherman is not having it. He’s all, “Hey, Trump, you’re just doing this for personal profit, aren’t you?” đ¤
The law allows only one single extension, so Trumpâs failure to enforce it is illegal.
However, the Chinese owners of TikToK have announced they are buying âTrump Coinsâ for $300 million. Trump creates âTrump Coinsâ at no cost, meaning this is just a $300 million bribe that goesâŚ

Sherman’s all, “This is just a bribe, folks!” And, honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. I mean, who needs actual diplomacy when you can just create a meme coin and call it a day? đ¤Ł
But, of course, TikTok’s all, “Uh, no, we’re not bribing anyone!” And they’re pointing to a letter that Sherman signed in May, saying, “Hey, you’re contradicting yourself, dude.”
Congressman, claiming that the owners of TikTok are buying “Trump Coins” is patently false and irresponsible and doesnât even accurately reflect a letter you signed last month.

So, who’s telling the truth? đ¤ Well, as of now, there’s no on-chain evidence to support Sherman’s claims. But, hey, that’s not stopping anyone from speculating! đ¤
And, just to make things more interesting, Reddit was considering acquiring TikTok’s US operations. Because, you know, what could possibly go wrong with that? đ¤Ł
The TRUMP meme coin is still going strong, by the way. It’s up by a modest 0.7% in the last 24 hours. Because, hey, who doesn’t love a good meme? đ¤Ł

But, seriously, folks, this whole thing raises some serious conflict-of-interest questions. I mean, should a sitting president really be profiting off a meme coin? đ¤
