It’s clear that the Soulslike genre has firmly established itself as a significant part of the video game world. Starting with Demon’s Souls, we’ve seen numerous Soulslike games emerge, both from Software and other developers, captivating millions. One of the key aspects that sets this genre apart is the diverse array of classes players can select to combat their adversaries.
In Soulsborne games, each character class I’ve used feels potent and versatile at all stages. Yet, I can’t say the same for the Mage classes because they don’t scratch my itch for direct combat against monsters. Frankly, they seem far too brittle and dull to engage with in every Soulsborne game. However, my perspective on Mages has significantly shifted after playing Recluse in Elden Ring: Nightreign – the Mage class is now more appealing due to its unique abilities and tactical depth.
Nightreign has made me a believer in mages

In the game “Nightreign”, Recluse is a distinct character who belongs to the mage-class among the Nightfarers. She possesses an extraordinary ability to inflict significant damage by utilizing Incantations and collaborating with Sorcerers. Recluse’s weapon of choice typically includes Sacred Seals and Glinestone Staves, enabling her to conjure a wide range of spells. What truly sets her apart within the team is her exceptional Ultimate Art.
As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I must admit something unexpected: Recluse has transformed my perspective on mages. FromSoftware’s ingenuity in Recluse has redefined the essence of spellcasting and instilling fear at a distance. The floaty dodge animation of the Nightfarer evokes memories of Rennala’s grandeur, a presence that elevated every boss encounter to an unforgettable experience.
The ability to recover FP by using my own spell energy is quite intelligent, and combining that with a relic that summons Terra Magica is incredibly puzzling. Despite some players debating the “Cocktail” mechanic, I find the versatility and complexity it introduces to be delightful.

Despite the fact that the new feature of having seals and staffs hold two spells each in Nightreign may appear to be an added complication initially, it actually enhances the flexibility and ease with which I construct my characters.
Using two catalysts, I find it effortless to conjure four spells swiftly, enabling me to execute combos without frequently flipping through my spellbook. I can’t express enough gratitude towards FromSoftware for their exceptional work on Recluse and igniting my passion for the mage class.
Everdark Sovereigns have arrived in Nightreign

If you’ve been persuaded to try out Recluse in Nighthreign, FromSoftware has recently introduced a fresh test of her abilities for you to conquer!
For the first time in Nightreign, the Everdark Sovereigns have graced our screens. This exciting development offers a constantly changing roster of temporary boss fights, enabling players to engage with established Nightlords using innovative strategies, quicker action, and most thrilling of all, unique prizes.
Starting with Adel, the Knight of Darkness, players can engage in battles against different versions of him to acquire unique equipment. However, be aware that these boss variations have been strategically crafted to disrupt any habits or strategies you may have developed.
It’s been verified by FromSoftware that additional Everdark Sovereigns will be added to the game Nightreign as part of upcoming updates.
