Skyrim Grandma is “still learning” the ropes in Oblivion Remastered after 10 years of The Elder Scrolls 5 – and it’s not easy: “This stupid thing won’t die!”
A month has gone by since Bethesda Game Studios unveiled The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, their eagerly anticipated remake, and even novice players such as “Skyrim Grandma” Shirley Curry are still familiarizing themselves with the game mechanics.
In the gaming community of Skyrim, Curry has been a cherished figure. Lately, she’s ventured into the newly enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls 5 after a ten-year run. Her initial experience with Oblivion, revisited only two days ago, demonstrates that returning to an older game, despite its improvements, isn’t straightforward following so much time spent playing Skyrim. One challenge she encountered is the control system – it’s distinct enough to have vexed Curry, a dedicated RPG player, somewhat.
In her initial playthrough, she loudly expressed displeasure about the unattractive movement in Oblivion Remastered, but as she delved deeper into the game, it appeared she grew fond of it. Her latest YouTube video, a continuation of her gameplay, indicates that she’s still getting accustomed to navigating Bethesda’s remastered version, which is reasonable given the circumstances.
Approximately three minutes into the second gameplay video, Curry encounters a rat but finds it challenging to eliminate it – a humorous and understandable predicament, if I might add. She expresses her curiosity about the contents of a box, eyeing a wooden chest after questioning why she couldn’t kill the rat. The camera angle shifts to the creature, which, in classic Bethesda RPG style, seems trapped within a wall, as she grumbles, “This frustrating creature just won’t perish.
