Nicola Peltz publicly praised her mother on Sunday, shortly after her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, didn’t mention his own mother’s birthday.
Victoria Beckham celebrated her 52nd birthday on April 17th with well wishes from family, friends, and fans worldwide, but her son Brooklyn notably didn’t post a public tribute on social media.
This continues a pattern of public disagreements, as the 27-year-old cooking personality remains distant from his family. He’s chosen to prioritize his life in the United States with his wife, who is an actress.
Nicola, age 31, posted a handwritten note on Instagram that seemed strangely timed, and it was about her mother, Claudia Heffner, who used to be a model.
‘Mom, my favourite part is knowing that I’m a little piece of you,’ she wrote on Sunday evening.
Everyone in the family acknowledged Victoria’s birthday except Brooklyn, who didn’t say anything publicly. His father, David, and siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper all posted tributes to the fashion designer.
Just before her birthday, Victoria spoke to the Wall Street Journal about the distance between her oldest son, Brooklyn, and the rest of the family.
Despite not saying his name, the mother of four directly addressed their ongoing disagreement.
She paused, then said with deep affection, “We adore our children. We’ve always done our best to be good parents.”
I’ve been a longtime supporter, and what always shines through to me is how much they prioritize their kids. After being in the spotlight for over three decades, it’s clear that protecting and loving their children has always been their main focus, and honestly, that’s all that really matters to me.
In January, Brooklyn publicly announced he was distancing himself from his family, stating he doesn’t want to repair his relationship with his parents and claiming they had controlled him throughout his life.
In January, the influencer posted a detailed six-page statement on social media claiming his parents attempted to ruin his marriage and consistently valued their public image more than their family.
He explained that, throughout his life, his parents had always managed what the media reported about their family.
Growing up, my life was filled with showy displays on social media, obligatory family gatherings, and relationships that didn’t feel genuine.
Brooklyn is the oldest of David and Victoria Beckham’s four children. He’s worked as both a model and a photographer, and has even expressed interest in becoming a chef.
He explained that he’s recently witnessed how far some people will go to spread lies in the media, often harming innocent individuals, all to maintain a false image. However, he’s confident that the truth will eventually be revealed.
These posts have revealed a long-simmering and thinly disguised conflict that was previously hinted at in anonymous tabloid reports for months.
In December, Cruz Beckham shared on Instagram that his older brother had blocked several family members on social media.
Brooklyn stated she doesn’t want to make amends with her family. She explained that she’s asserting her independence and finally prioritizing her own needs, something she hasn’t done before.
Brooklyn wasn’t featured in his mother’s new Netflix documentary, and he and Nicola didn’t attend the premiere. This contrasts with last year, when they both showed up to support David’s Netflix series.
A lot of the complaints shared in the Instagram stories relate to the Peltz-Beckham wedding in Florida. He claims his mother unexpectedly backed out of designing Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress, and that she interrupted his first dance with his wife – which was supposed to be to a song by Marc Anthony – to dance herself.
He said she danced suggestively on him in public, leaving him feeling deeply uncomfortable and humiliated. He described it as the most embarrassing moment of his life.
He stated that before the wedding, his parents repeatedly pressured him and even offered him money to give up his legal rights to his own name.
During a CNBC interview from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, David didn’t respond directly to comments made by his son. Instead, he said that kids often make errors on social media and deserve some leeway.
I try to instill that in my children, but it’s also important to let them learn from their own mistakes sometimes, he explained.
