As a lone gamer in Elden Ring Nightreign, I find myself facing challenges without the aid of companions. Without allies to divert enemy attention or add extra firepower, I’m left to tackle each foe head-on. Even though the health bars of enemies diminish when I play solo, completing an expedition becomes a tough, solitary struggle.
In addition to smaller adversaries, playing solo allows you to obtain a rare item named Wending Grace. This special item enables you to resurrect when you meet your demise, although it might appear ineffective at times, it’s simply more context-dependent than initially suggested.
How Does Wending Grace Work In Elden Ring Nightreign

The enchantment called Wending Grace becomes active solely during a single-player expedition, and its description suggests it revives you upon your demise. Essentially, this artifact is employed to retrieve you when you fall in a solo game, since there’s no partner available to do so.
The enchantment named “Wending Grace” is procured from merchants at a cost of 10,000 Runes. It activates on its own when the appropriate circumstances for use arise as you descend.
One important detail not mentioned in the description is that this item will only activate when encountered with a Nightboss or Nightlord. If you perish at any time during the day, fighting common mobs or even field bosses, your usual fate and level loss will ensue. This restriction does reduce the versatility of this item, as it cannot protect you from death during the day, and you won’t have another chance to use it before encountering the next Nightboss.
Regardless of using this item, it’s crucial to choose a game class that is suitable for solo play, since there’s always the risk of death when moving at such high speeds.
- Guardian
- Revenant
- Wylder
During the daytime, if your character appears to be near death, it can be annoying, but don’t worry, your game won’t come to an immediate halt. Even with one fewer level, you can still advance and strive to emerge victorious. It’s strategically wise to acquire that item just before the day ends, as this restriction on Wending Grace goes, and use your early runes for character and gear development instead.
Using a Nightboss to end a run implies it’s finished, so even though Runes can be used sparingly, it’s advisable to use them on one each time because an unused Wending Grace from the first night can be saved for later nights or the Nightlord battle. Moreover, during a solo expedition, every merchant will have a Wending Grace in their inventory, although their stock changes and is unpredictable.
