Elden Ring Nightreign’s Toughest Challenge So Far? Finding Friends to Play With

In the initial stages of playing Elden Ring: Nightreign, players are encountering their most challenging hurdle yet – finding fellow gamers to team up with. It’s not the traditional tough boss battle from FromSoftware that they’re grappling with; instead, it’s the challenge of forging alliances.

In Elden Ring: Nightreign, players find themselves immersed in the ever-changing world of Limveld, traversing and battling for existence alone or in teams of three. However, it’s important to note that this game doesn’t support two-player cooperative play, which has been a source of disappointment for some users. We’ve previously shared that Elden Ring: Nightreign has received mixed reviews on Steam, with many users expressing concerns about the absence of duos mode and voice chat functionality.

Playing Elden Ring Nightreign solo is proving to be a particularly difficult experience. As a gamer, I can’t imagine finding another soul to play this game with, let alone two. The question that lingers in my mind is: Is this game still worth it when played alone?

It’s been noted that Elden Ring: Nightreign includes a matchmaking feature, which means you can form trios even if you don’t have friends to play with. However, it’s also been pointed out that playing with strangers may not always provide an optimal gaming experience.

One participant expressed, ‘After watching so many videos here, I’m not comfortable giving anything beyond the daily news to strangers.’ But don’t misunderstand, I appreciate everyone. Just from a safe and secure space away.

Some enthusiasts of Elden Ring are expressing their reluctance to purchase the game due to a lack of companions to join them in gameplay.

Unfortunately, due to not having anyone to play with, Twinkie454 had to decline the game invitation. They can only play alone, which isn’t an option for them.

Many people are urging FromSoftware to adjust the single-player experience to make it less challenging. One individual suggested, “Let’s wait and see what adjustments FromSoftware makes to balance things out; in the meantime, a bit of patience is required.

Consequently, some enthusiasts are extending a helping hand to their fellow admirers. One Elden Ring player exclaimed, “Are we now inseparable friends?!” Another fan replied, “Go ahead and grab the game, buddy! Let’s connect once I wrap up work tomorrow.

Despite some challenges, the game Elden Ring: Nightreign saw a huge debut on Steam, boasting a staggering 313,593 simultaneous players at its peak overnight. This figure placed Elden Ring: Nightreign among the most popular games on Valve’s platform.

And it sounds like FromSoftware may add a duos option at some point in the future. In iggn.ru‘s interview with Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki, the Nightreign lead developer discussed the choice to lean on solos and trios as the core experience options. When asked why there’s no option for a pair of players to drop in together without a matchmade third player, Ishizaki said it was overlooked.

Ishizaki stated, “Initially, we missed something during development; it was initially designed as a two-player game, but we intended to create a multiplayer cooperative game for three players. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused by this oversight.” Prior to this, our primary goal was to make Nightreign a well-balanced and engaging three-player co-op experience.

Ishizaki added, “I, being a player myself, appreciate that desire for solo playtime, and it was one of our initial thoughts when designing the game.

We dedicated a significant amount of work to designing an experience that could be played alone, given the constraints of the rules and systems. In doing so, we may have unintentionally underdeveloped the aspect for two players. However, we are conscious of this oversight and plan to address it in updates after the initial launch.
