Now, the world of Harry Potter is being revisited with new projects.

HBO is creating a new Harry Potter TV series. After years of silence, news about the show began to emerge in early 2026. A trailer was recently released, confirming the series will premiere this Christmas. The first season will adapt Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and one of the original film’s stars has shared their thoughts on the project.

Daniel Radcliffe discussed and ranked all eight Harry Potter films on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, using a bracket-style competition to determine his favorites.

He initially chose Chamber of Secrets instead of Sorcerer’s Stone, Goblet of Fire over Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix over Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows Part 2 over Part 1. After that, Goblet of Fire won against Chamber of Secrets, and Deathly Hallows Part 2 triumphed over Order of the Phoenix, ultimately being declared the best of the series.

Honestly, the biggest surprise for me was seeing Goblet of Fire ranked higher than Prisoner of Azkaban. I can already imagine fans debating that one – a lot of people consider Prisoner of Azkaban to be the best movie! But Daniel Radcliffe explained that he personally had more fun filming Goblet of Fire, and I guess that played a big part in his decision.

Both Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire received positive reviews. Prisoner of Azkaban has a 90% rating from critics and an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Goblet of Fire earned an 88% critics’ score, though audiences rated it a bit lower at 74%.

Daniel Radcliffe agrees with critics about his favorite Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. This final film in the series is highly rated by both critics (96%) and audiences (89%), and is considered a fitting and emotional end to the beloved story.
