The BBC has given fans a sneak peek at season two of its hit comedy, Amandaland. As a continuation of the show Motherland, the series stars Lucy Punch as Amanda Hughes, a single mother navigating the challenges of raising two teenage children after her divorce.
The cast also includes Joanna Lumley, Philippa Dunne, Siobhán McSweeney, Samuel Anderson, Ekow Quartey, Rochenda Sandall, and Peter Serafinowicz, with Sharon Horgan as an executive producer.
The popular show, with an 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, was picked up for another season by the BBC last year. A new trailer has now offered fans their first look at what’s coming next.

Amanda continues to live in South Harlesden while balancing the challenges of raising teenagers with running her online Senuous business. In a funny incident, she playfully tricked her social media followers by spraying water on her face to make it look like she’d just finished a 7km run.
In one scene, Amanda is shown talking to a group of women, telling them she’s reading George Orwell’s 1984. When someone suggests Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, Amanda makes a playful joke, saying, “Love anything handmade.”
What to Read Next
Amanda doesn’t like a new, trendy coffee shop that opened nearby, feeling it’s a sign of unwanted changes to the neighborhood. The teaser ends with her drinking coffee and jokingly saying, “She came, she saw, she gentrified.”
According to previews for the new season, Amanda will be excited to learn a large house nearby is for sale, but getting it won’t be easy.
I’m totally hooked on this storyline! She really wants to buy this place, so she asks her mom for help. But it turns out getting the money isn’t simple – her mom’s getting older and hints that she might need someone to live with her as a condition. It’s a really interesting twist – I didn’t see that coming!

The episode also features Mal’s former wife, Abs, who is portrayed as practical and direct. Unexpectedly, Mal becomes friends with Abs’s current husband, JJ. And after Della goes to work on a cruise ship, Fi finds she enjoys dog walking.
Anne continues to be Amanda’s steadfast, though often stressed, best friend as they both deal with the challenges of raising teenagers – from school exams and first relationships to the big event of prom.
Amandaland series 2 is coming soon to BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautiful 100-page, full-color tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
