Pop music sensation Andy Brown has disclosed that he’s currently receiving chemotherapy treatments, posting a photo taken from his hospital bed.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the lead singer of Lawson, who’s 38 years old, shared that due to a ten-year battle with a unique blood condition, he requires a stem cell transplant for his health.

Andy mentioned that it’s almost certain he might get leukemia, a kind of blood cancer, unless he gets the transplant.

Last week, Andy announced that he’s located a donor and is currently preparing for a transplant by receiving chemotherapy.

From his hospital bed, Andy posted a black and white photo: “Completed Day 4 of chemotherapy ✔️ The past few days have intensified considerably, not feeling great currently, but there’s no avoiding it. Only three more days left, followed by the insertion of new stem cells on Tuesday next week!

Despite making every effort to remain optimistic, I must admit that this chemotherapy journey isn’t a walk in the park. For decades, I’ve been diligent about monitoring what I consume, abstaining from alcohol for ten years, and maintaining a balanced diet. Yet, the physical toll of this treatment is profound. However, I recognize it as a crucial aspect of my battle. It’s about embracing the challenge, persevering, and ultimately emerging more resilient than before.

Additionally, let’s discuss the topic of hospital meals. To put it mildly, the food here is far from appetizing. Despite hospitals being places of healing, the food they provide seems to undermine that purpose, offering little to no nutritional benefits at all.

‘I understand that the NHS is facing immense strain, and I want to make clear that it’s not the dedicated healthcare workers who are at fault. Food plays a crucial role in our health, and I realize this now more than ever. Once I get through this, I intend to take action and improve the situation. Perhaps I can collaborate with @jamieoliver on this endeavor!’

He commented: “In any case, it’s the following week where the true fight commences. That’s when the transplant takes place, marking the start of my body’s process to rebuild from ground zero. It’s a second lease on life, not everyone is granted this chance.

It can be challenging to locate individuals who donate stem cells. However, you might just be the perfect match for someone in need – a little girl, a father, or an individual whose world could be transformed.

If you’re in good health and capable, I encourage you to think about enrolling yourself on the registration list. It won’t take long, but it could make a world of difference for someone like myself. This is simply another step forward. Nothing will hold me back.

Sharing an important personal update today, the father of two mentioned his 10-year health struggle earlier this month. He said, ‘Good morning! I thought I’d pop in to fill you in on some recent events. I usually find it difficult to share personal details on Instagram, but this seems significant enough, and if it helps a single soul, then it’s all worth it!’

Over the last decade, I’ve been residing with a relatively uncommon blood condition. So far, it hasn’t significantly disrupted my daily routine, just requiring regular blood tests and the occasional bout with an infection. However, without proper treatment, there is a substantial risk that I might develop Leukemia in the future.

For some time now, I’ve been under careful observation at King’s College Hospital in London, renowned for its top-tier hematology department. After numerous consultations, we’ve agreed that the most effective approach to avoid leukemia is through a stem cell transplant for me.

He went on saying: ‘I discovered I have a donor whose cells and blood perfectly match mine. It’s astonishing to me that a person I’ve never met before is prepared to sacrifice for my life in such a significant way. Given all the terrible events happening globally, it can be disheartening to maintain faith in humanity. However, when you witness acts of such selflessness, it renews your belief in human kindness.’

Andy shared that he gave his son the name Lawson in honor of David Lawson, a neurosurgeon from The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool, as he stated, “He is the reason I am alive.

Six years past, Andy received a diagnosis of acoustic neuroma – a benign brain tumor that develops along the nerve within the inner ear.

He underwent 17 hours of surgery to have the growth, the size of a ping-pong ball, removed.

The procedure temporarily immobilized him, but he’s fully recuperated now, except for some hearing impairment. His band has since scored three top-ten hits.

The first sign that something was wrong came when Andy suddenly lost his hearing in his right ear.

He states, “I was talking to a friend on the phone, and it felt like someone had jabbed a finger into my ear.” He continues, “Things returned to normal, but the exact same thing occurred the following day.

‘I was on the phone and, bang, my hearing went and it never came back.’

Besides the initial signs, additional ones such as feeling lightheaded, difficulty maintaining balance, and persistent queasiness emerged. Given her profession as a nurse for the National Health Service, Andy’s mom, Bernice, firmly recommended that he be examined by a specialist.

The ENT doctor arranged for Andy to have an MRI examination, during which they discovered a tumor on his auditory nerve.

Approximately 1 out of every 100,000 individuals receive a diagnosis of acoustic neuroma each year. Common symptoms of this condition include hearing difficulties, vertigo (dizziness), and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). The majority of diagnoses occur in people during their 40s and 50s.
