RZA makes clear he wants Barack Obama to induct Wu-Tang Clan

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will continue recognizing hip-hop in 2026 with the induction of Wu-Tang Clan. They aren’t the first rap group to be honored – Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest are already members – but their inclusion feels right, given Wu-Tang Clan’s long-standing connection to rock music.

This band has a strong history, having toured with acts like Rage Against the Machine and collaborated with System of a Down. They’ve earned their reputation and played a key role in developing some of the biggest names in nu metal.

So, who will be responsible for introducing the band at the induction ceremony? RZA, a member of Wu-Tang Clan, recently shared some ideas in an interview with Rolling Stone. His most prominent suggestion was Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States.

President Obama often spoke about how much he loved hip-hop while he was in office. RZA acknowledged he hadn’t met Obama, but said it would be fitting if the former president participated in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. In fact, it could be one of the most memorable moments in the event’s history.

RZA explained he’s working on a project that will be very self-centered, but he’s also a huge admirer of Barack Obama, even though they’ve never met.

RZA also suggested Quentin Tarantino (who used RZA’s music in Kill Bill), Leonardo DiCaprio, and LeBron James as potential inductors for Wu-Tang into the Rock Hall. While all three are highly accomplished, RZA believes Barack Obama would be the most impactful choice.

We won’t find out who will present the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees until late 2026. The ceremony itself, where they’ll be officially honored, is on November 14th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. However, you’ll be able to watch it on ABC and Disney+ starting in December.

Joining this year’s performers category are music legends Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Sade, Joy Division + New Order, Luther Vandross, and Oasis. Iron Maiden is also being inducted, but won’t be at the ceremony. It’s an incredibly talented group of artists.
