You Won’t Believe What Mayor Eric Adams Just Said About Crypto in NYC!
Alright, folks, here we go again. Mayor Eric Adams, in the middle of his reelection campaign, is doubling down on his dreams of turning New York City into the epicenter of cryptocurrency and fintech innovation. You know, because that’s exactly what we need in the middle of a city that can’t fix its potholes.
In a recent speech (because, of course, he needed a mic to tell us this), Adams was practically giddy about the world-changing power of crypto and blockchain. Big surprise, right? What’s next, “We should all be using flying cars?”
Adams Wants to Make NYC the Crypto Capital of the World (Again, Because Why Not?)
“This isn’t some pie-in-the-sky future, folks. It’s here. Right now,” Adams exclaimed. I mean, sure, maybe we should address the rats in the subway first, but let’s go ahead and bet on cryptocurrency, right? He’s convinced that this whole ‘tokenization’ thing is the ticket to boosting the economy. I mean, sure, why not? Throw some crypto at it!
And, naturally, Adams is super focused on how crypto will help underbanked communities. Because nothing says “financial inclusion” like a volatile, unpredictable market that everyone’s still trying to figure out. But hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
He then took a stroll down memory lane, reminiscing about the time he turned his first three paychecks into cryptocurrency back in 2022. Oh yeah, that was the move that had everyone scratching their heads. Who could forget the collective “What is this guy doing?” And now? Well, apparently, he’s just a visionary. No big deal, right? Who’s laughing now, huh? 🤷♂️
Adams pointed out that New York City is outpacing Silicon Valley in attracting crypto startups. Look, I’m all for innovation, but I’m also wondering when we’re going to do something about the homeless situation. But anyway, moving on!
NYC Digital Asset Summit: May 20 (Get Ready for the ‘Next Big Thing’)
As if his plans weren’t ambitious enough, Adams has also announced the NYC Crypto Summit on May 20th. Oh yes, it’s happening at Gracie Mansion (where all the best crypto deals are made). The summit is going to bring in crypto whizzes and influencers from all over to ‘collaborate.’ I mean, when has a group of techie types ever disagreed on anything? This is sure to be riveting.
Adams insists that the summit will focus on “long-term values,” which sounds great, except when it’s coming from the same guy who just wants to make a quick buck on crypto. No memes or trends, he says. I’m sure this is going to change the world. 🤑
The summit’s going to help shape the future of the industry, or at least that’s what they’re hoping for. Adams is especially excited about the contributions from “notable” figures like June Ou (who?) and Richie Hecker (never heard of him, but okay). Sure, we’ll see how it all plays out. 🧐
