No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont is seen for first time since shock Parkinson’s diagnosis revelation

Tom Dumont, the guitarist for the band No Doubt, has been seen publicly for the first time since he announced his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease.

The musician, age 58, was recently spotted out and about in Long Beach, California.

Tony Dumont, known for his work on popular songs like “Just a Girl” and “Don’t Speak,” shared a video on Instagram over the weekend revealing he’s been diagnosed with an illness.

Parkinson’s disease can be very difficult for guitarists because it affects their ability to use their hands, but Dumont has reassured his fans that he’s feeling good and is still able to play.

Even though he’d recently received a diagnosis, he seemed cheerful and went to meet up with friends.

For a day of fun in the sun, Dumont dressed casually in a red T-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a black Los Angeles Dodgers hat.

In a video released over the weekend, he shared that he recently visited his doctor and a neurologist, underwent testing, and received a diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson’s disease.

Things have been tough, a daily challenge really. But thankfully, I’m still able to do what I love – I can still play music and guitar.

Dumont explained he chose to reveal his diagnosis now because he was motivated by others who have openly shared their own health journeys.

The guitarist explained that talking about this helps reduce the shame surrounding the issue, and it also brings much-needed attention to it. Raising that awareness is key for both preventing it and finding better treatments.

Interestingly, Dumont shared his video on World Parkinson’s Day, April 11th. He’s committed to helping people understand Parkinson’s disease and plans to create another video explaining what living with it is like.

The World Parkinson’s Day organization reports that 12 million people worldwide currently live with Parkinson’s disease, making it the fastest-growing neurological disorder globally.

Parkinson’s disease causes symptoms like shaking, muscle stiffness, slow movement, and difficulty with balance. It most commonly affects people over 60.

There is no cure for the disease, but there are treatments to help mitigate its symptoms.

In his video, Dumont also discussed No Doubt’s upcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.

He said it’s been a really enjoyable process revisiting old videos, photos, and songs, as well as rehearsing and making the visuals for the screens at the Sphere.

The guitarist expressed his gratitude for his decades-long career as a musician and thanked his fans for their support.

No Doubt will be performing at The Sphere in Las Vegas from May 6th to June 13th. The residency includes 18 shows featuring Gwen Stefani, Adrian Young, and Tony Kanal.

Oh my gosh, when Dumont posted that video, the comments just EXPLODED! Everyone – seriously, everyone – was sending him so much love. His bandmates, all his fans… it was amazing to see how much support he’s getting. It totally warmed my heart, honestly!

No Doubt drummer Adrian Young shared a heartfelt message, calling a friend, bandmate, and hero ‘brother’ and expressing his love in a social media post.

No Doubt bassist Kanal shared a heartfelt message, saying he loves his friend immensely and is excited to perform with them again.
