Scrubs season 10 finale spoilers follow.
While a second season (which would be the show’s eleventh season overall) of the well-loved Scrubs revival hasn’t been officially confirmed, the groundwork has been laid for it, particularly with the introduction of a new character named Charlie, played by Rachel Bilson, known from The OC.
Rachel Bilson’s role in the season finale, ‘My Celebration,’ is brief – more of a cameo appearance. However, her scenes strongly suggest a budding romance with Zach Braff’s character, JD. The two actors previously played a couple in the 2006 film, The Last Kiss, making their on-screen reunion noteworthy.

Showrunner Aseem Batra told The Hollywood Reporter that there are many stories in development for JD and Charlie if the show gets renewed for another season.
Batra explained that they apologized to the actress, whose role mostly involved simply appearing in scenes and being seen by the character JD, without any direct interaction. They assured viewers that next season will offer her a more substantial storyline. The actress understood the purpose of her limited role – to build towards something bigger – and the writers are eager to develop that further.
What to Read Next
The showrunner explained that the two actors, having worked together before, already have a natural and comfortable connection.
What’s going to be compelling to watch with her character is that JD is starting a new phase in his love life, but he’s carrying emotional weight from the past into it.
I’m really fascinated by his storyline! He’s a dad now, and it’s cool to see him navigate dating again after becoming one. It’s like, how do you change and grow as a person, and how does that affect not just you, but also your kid, Elliot? It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Christa Miller, who plays Jordan on the show Shrinking on Apple TV+, is someone that creator Bill Lawrence is eager to have return for another season.
The showrunner mentioned they spoke with Miller as she arrived for an ADR recording, and Miller expressed interest in doing more work on the show. The showrunner intends to follow up on this conversation.
We’d be thrilled if she wanted to return and do more—she’s always been popular with fans and brings a lot of energy. It’s great to see her really embrace the character, and we’re hoping she’ll be back as this character again.
Scrubs airs on ABC in the US and streams on Disney+ in the UK.
