BBC’s beloved British cosy crime drama branded “marvellous” and “delightful” confirms exciting news

Filming has started on season 14 of Father Brown, the popular BBC mystery series, and fans will be happy to hear that seasons 15 and 16 are also planned! The show stars Mark Williams as the crime-solving priest at the heart of the stories.

Filming has resumed in the Cotswolds, and several beloved characters will be back, including Inspector Sullivan (played by Tom Chambers), Mrs. Isabel Sullivan (Claudie Blakley), and Sergeant Goodfellow (John Burton).

I’m really excited to hear that Nancy Carroll is coming back as Lady Felicia! And Lex Shrapnel as Father Lazarus, Roger May as Bishop Fox, and Kieran Hodgson as Father Lindsey too – that’s awesome! But the biggest news for me is that there’s a new character joining us in series 14 – Rita Flint. The BBC says she’s Father Brown’s new housekeeper, and she’s apparently going to shake things up a bit with a bit of a tough personality. Sounds like things are going to get interesting!

The series will also feature a number of special guest stars, including comedian Bill Bailey, known for his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, and Clive Mantle from the show Casualty.

Mark Williams announced that filming for the fourteenth series of Father Brown began in early April. He admitted it’s always hard to leave his garden at home when it’s starting to bloom, but the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds more than makes up for it.

Everything feels so fresh and beautiful right now! All the trees are covered in blossoms – hawthorn, apple, pear, blackthorn, and especially the cherries, which are just gorgeous in white and pink. There are magnolias everywhere, looking like huge, fancy bouquets, and all the leaves are starting to come out. I always love seeing the horse chestnut leaves when they’re still small and droopy. Even the grass and fields are looking amazing – it’s seriously picture-perfect. It almost makes you want to write a poem, but we’ve got a lot of work to do – ten shows to film! So, costume on, and let’s get solving!
