Should You Kill Ulrich or Arrest Him? The Ultimate Choice in Oblivion Remastered!
In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, many storylines often present players with choices that lean towards morality or immorality, but it’s essential to note that these decisions aren’t solely about moral dilemmas. At times, they also influence the rewards the player receives at the end, and on occasion, these rewards can be so substantial that they make an unscrupulous decision seem worthwhile.
The game Corruption and Conscience centers around upholding justice in a city where the head of the guards is oppressing its citizens. It makes clear that anyone who misuses their power to swindle the poor will be held accountable for their actions, but the challenge lies in deciding how to handle such a person effectively. This dilemma is what players are soon to confront.
Starting Corruption And Conscience
In Cheydinhal, tracking down Corruption And Conscience might prove to be a bit of a challenge. You’ll want to make your way to the city during daylight hours, and engage in individual conversations with various residents until you come across someone who has a dialogue option titled “Fines”. It’s advisable to speak with Llevana Nedaren first, as doing so will eventually lead you to interact with her. However, aside from Llevana, Maknok gro-Coblag and Bazur gro-Gharz are also residents in the city who can trigger the quest for you by discussing Fines in their conversation.
Once you accept the quest, you can converse with Llevana Nedaren, or if you’ve already triggered the quest through her, you’ll be led to speak with Garrus, a high-ranking guard in Cheydinhal who is critical of Ulrich, the commander of guards. Initially, Garrus may not openly discuss Ulrich, but as your relationship with him improves (by raising his Disposition above 50), he’ll confide in you more. After your conversation with Garrus, you’ll be instructed to speak with Aldos Othran, a person who has suffered at the hands of Ulrich due to excessive fines and consequently lost his home.
As a concerned admirer, I found myself in a tough spot during my negotiations with Aldos. Things took an unfortunate turn when Aldos launched an attack on the guard, resulting in a violent takeover of his house. Tragically, this led to Aldos’ own demise.
Now, it’s crucial that I share this grim news with Llevana and also have a word with Garrus. Each of these characters may propose a distinct route for seeking justice for Aldos’ untimely end.
Taking Sides With Llevana And Killing Ulrich
As a gamer speaking, I’d suggest this: Following Llevana’s guidance, I’d head to the city and inform Ulrich about some unfinished business she has with him back at her place. Once he steps into her house, something strange happens – Llevana conjures a horde of mice that, unexpectedly, turn aggressive towards Ulrich, eventually leading to his untimely demise.
At the conclusion, the player will be able to gather all the possessions belonging to Ulrich – his attire, a Silver Battle Axe, some Gold coins, and notably, a collection of keys. These keys offer access to several locked rooms within the guards’ command center, enabling players to potentially discover additional treasures.
In summary, it’s necessary for the player to inform Garrus about the murder they’ve witnessed. Although Llevana will serve a prison sentence, the player manages to evade blame for the crime and is given 75 Gold coins by Garrus as an extra compensation.
Taking Sides With Garrus And Arresting Ulrich
Should you heed Garrus’ advice, he will provide you with a key to Ulrich’s private chamber. Slip into the room, and there you’ll find a confidential letter sitting atop a book. Click first to read the letter, and as you’re perusing it, click again to secure it too. It is crucial that you pick up the letter rather than merely reading it, or the mission will stall.
Return the letter to Garrus, and he will instruct you to meet him at the Bridge Inn in two hours. Upon his arrival, Garrus informs you that Ulrich has been taken into custody. As a reward for your assistance, Garrus gives you 150 Gold coins – this is the highest reward along this path, though you also have the option to pilfer some items from Ulrich’s room if you prefer.
In terms of benefits and chances for theft, Llevana’s route seems more advantageous. Yet, it appears that this method does not align with the principles of fairness and justice.
