Should You Give The Ring To Savlian Or Keep It In Oblivion Remastered?

In the storyline of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, the Castle Kvatch saga includes several quests for a complete experience. The initial part, titled “Lifting the Siege of Castle Kvatch”, requires you to pass through an Oblivion gate and venture into that nightmarish realm to shut down the gate and halt the relentless attacks on the castle.

In essence, we’ve moved on to the second act of the Castle Kvatch mission. With the Oblivion gate sealed and our return to Kvatch secured, it’s time to reclaim the castle. This task will require some effort, and there might be a glitch or two we’ll need to navigate during the process.

Speak To Savlian

The adventure initiates within the chapel located in Kvatch. Engage Savlian there, assuring him of your readiness to assist in capturing the castle. Upon hearing this, he will rally everyone, leading them out from the chapel towards the main entrance of the castle.

On our journey, you might encounter a handful of formidable creatures, but if we stick together and move forward as a team, we should be able to handle them easily.

How To Unlock The Gates

You’ll notice that the entrance gates to the castle are now securely fastened from within. Savlian will guide you towards going back to the chapel, retrieving the key, and then proceeding to the guardhouse. Inside the guardhouse, you’ll discover a tunnel that leads into the castle. With the key, you can unlock the gate and allow everyone else in through it.

The Chapel Undercroft And The Tower Tunnel

Head back to the chapel and engage in a conversation with Berich Inian. After your chat, Berich will guide you through the chapel’s basement and all the way to the tower situated by the northern city wall.

Two Imperial soldiers will also accompany you along the way, meeting you inside the chapel.

Follow Berich, fighting alongside him and the two soldiers.

As I engage in battle with Berich, it’s crucial to prepare for two possible outcomes. If by chance he falls, I’ve got to grab the key off his person myself. But if he manages to stay standing, he’ll open the way for us, and we, along with the soldiers, will march right in.

Venture deep into the dimly lit tunnel, push forward until you reach the rung-filled climbable surface. Ascend that ladder, then flip the lever marked ‘Gate’ to open up a new pathway ahead.

How To Clear The Courtyard

Once you’ve unlocked the gate, proceed to the Courtyard and lend a hand to Savlian and the other soldiers as they drive off the adversaries. The number of foes here might be substantial, and it’s a place where a relatively frequent glitch may occur.

After fully clearing the courtyard myself, I can’t help but notice that Savlian seems to keep acting like there’s more cleaning to do, even when it appears to be spotless.

It appears this hinders your quest advancement, but rest assured, continuing without Savlian is risk-free.

Or:

It seems this obstacle halts your progress in the quest, yet fear not as moving forward without Savlian is perfectly safe.

How To Clear Castle Kvatch

Should you encounter the bug, identifying the necessary steps within Castle Kvatch may not be entirely straightforward; however, rest assured that the solution is rather straightforward.

Within the castle, you must eliminate the monsters residing there and make your way through them towards the Count’s Chambers, situated on the opposite end of the location from where you begin. If they’ve managed to survive until now, you’ll still have Imperial soldiers ready to assist you here, but be aware that they might not make it out alive during the fight.

Where To Find The Ring In The Count’s Quarters

In the Count’s private chambers, your task is to perform a thorough search on Count Goldwine’s person. You will find a Colovian Signet Ring on him, which you should collect and return to Savlian.

Return To Savlian

With the ring secured, you’ll need to return to Savlian. Here you have two options:

Give Savlian The Ring In return, he’ll give you his Kvatch Cuirass off his own back. This chestpiece will fortify attributes for you and is a decent piece of gear, particularly in the early game.
Keep The Ring You can keep the ring, valued at 200 gold.
