How to Join the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered: Bloodshed Required
In the remastered version of Oblivion, some of the most famous quests are also its gloomiest, and among the factions, none align more closely with twisted ambition than the Dark Brotherhood. If you know the right spots, players of Oblivion Remastered can join the Dark Brotherhood almost straight away, even before reaching Level 2.
To become part of the enigmatic Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered, players need to meet specific conditions. This comprehensive guide outlines the three essential tasks you must accomplish to be inducted into this shadowy guild. Here, we provide tips to expedite your entry into the Dark Brotherhood, embark on their intriguing dark quests, and potentially transform into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered.
How To Join The Dark Brotherhood In Oblivion
Step One: Kill Any Innocent Person To Meet Lucien Lachance
To become a part of the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered, the initial step is to locate a harmless Non-Player Character (NPC) and commit a cold-blooded murder, ideally without any witnesses being present.

As a gamer,
“To join the Dark Brotherhood swiftly, make your way to the town of Bravil. It’s not far from where you need to initiate with the Brotherhood. Bravil lies southeast in the heartland of Cyrodiil, nestled between the Imperial City and Leyawiin.
In the game ‘Oblivion’, you have an option to eliminate any harmless Non-Player Characters (NPCs) as a prerequisite to join the Dark Brotherhood. However, exercise caution since some NPCs might be connected to quests. Often, beggars outside the Imperial City prove to be safe targets for this purpose.
Head over to Bravil West Gate using quick-teleportation, then explore the city streets where you might find a character named Wretched Aia. This beggar often wanders near Bravil’s church, even during nighttime hours, making it likely that you can find her alone and undetected as you carry out your actions.
Approach Wretched Aia covertly with your Sneak abilities, and then, from behind, either release an arrow or engage her with a close combat weapon while hiding. This stealthy attack will inflict additional damage due to her low Health. Following the attack, a message in the upper-left corner of the screen should appear: “Your actions have been noticed by unidentified forces…
Step Two: Complete “A Knife In The Dark” At The Inn Of Ill Omen
Once you’ve ended an innocent character’s life, make your way to the closest tavern or locate a camping spot to rest for the night. Upon waking up, you’ll be approached by Lucien Lachance, the representative of the Dark Brotherhood. He will label you as a “callous murderer, who can take lives without any compassion or regret” and extend an invitation for you to join the Dark Brotherhood, finding sanctuary under the protection of the Night Mother.
To begin, it’s essential that you finish the Dark Brotherhood initiation mission titled “A Knife In The Dark”. In the game Oblivion Remastered, players will be guided to eliminate a man named Rufio, who resides in the Inn of Ill Omen, situated slightly north along the path from Bravil. Lachance provides you with the Blade of Woe to carry out this assignment.
Make your way to the ominous-sounding Inn. Approach the innkeeper there for information. He’ll tell you that Rufio is residing in the rooms beneath the inn. Proceed to those rooms, remember to be stealthy as you enter the leftmost one. If it’s nighttime when you go, you’ll find Rufio asleep in bed. Quietly approach him and use your Woe Blade to take out Rufio, thereby completing your initiation rite.
Step Three: Report To The Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary
Following Rufio’s demise, players of Oblivion Remastered should rest in Rufio’s bed to initiate the concluding phase of the Dark Brotherhood initiation quest. Interestingly, you can choose any bed for this purpose; however, Rufio’s bed is quite fitting. Upon awakening, Lucien Lachance will reappear and extend an invitation to join the Dark Brotherhood’s Cheydinhal Sanctuary.

To gain access, search for the Old, Black Door hidden under a dilapidated structure in the eastern sector of Cheydinhal. Remember, Cheydinhal is situated in the northeastern part of Cyrodiil. Once you locate the rundown house, pick the lock to get inside, and then follow the caverns until you stumble upon the door.
When asked “What is the color of night?”, respond with “Sanguine, my Brother.”
As a gamer, if Lucien Lachance has shared this secret with you, remember that there’s a hidden door in the game. If you manage to locate it without eliminating Rufio, be aware that you’ll be barred from entering until your character learns this special codeword.
Step into the Sanctuary and converse with Ocheeva to become an official member of the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered. Upon doing so, players will be awarded a complete set of Shrouded Armor and a Shrouded Hood, which offer significant enhancements to various attributes.
Following this, engage with fellow members of the Dark Brotherhood, subsequently seek out Vincente Valtieri – a vampire who holds your initial official Dark Brotherhood assignments.
