A recent rumor suggests a possible connection between Jean Grey and the Hulk in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, potentially linked to the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ storyline.
Spider-Man will have to fight the Hulk with The Punisher in Brand New Day
A source claiming inside information says Jean Grey will mentally control the Hulk, transforming him into Grey Hulk, and then force him to battle both Spider-Man and the Punisher.
The initial trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day revealed Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner using a device to change back from his Smart Hulk form to his human self. According to reports, Jean Grey will then trigger the Hulk to transform back into the powerful, enraged version seen before the movie Avengers: Infinity War, and she’ll be able to control his actions.
It’s surprising to hear Spider-Man and the Punisher will team up against the Hulk, especially since earlier reports indicated the Punisher would be protecting Jean Grey from groups like Damage Control, and potentially Tombstone. This shift – from protecting Jean to fighting alongside Spider-Man against her Hulk form – suggests a conflict or disagreement between the Punisher and Jean is likely to happen during the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline.
The new Spider-Man comic, Brand New Day, takes place four years after the events of No Way Home. Peter Parker is now a grown man living a solitary life, having intentionally removed himself from the lives and memories of everyone he cares about.
Now operating in a New York City where he’s largely forgotten, he’s fully committed to being Spider-Man and protecting the city. But as the challenges grow, he begins to physically change in unexpected ways, putting his life at risk. At the same time, a new wave of crimes emerges, leading to a formidable enemy – perhaps his greatest challenge yet.
I’m so excited to see Tom Holland back as Spider-Man in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’! And the cast around him is incredible – Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, and even Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo are all joining him. It’s going to be amazing!
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The movie, a collaboration between Sony and Marvel, is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
