Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar “Lumen”

Following the success of the Datograph “Lumen” at Watches and Wonders 2026, A. Lange & Söhne introduces the Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar “Lumen” – a stunning new version of their iconic watch. For the first time, the Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon, previously available in traditional metals, gets the “Lumen” treatment, limited to just 50 pieces in platinum. This watch features a unique semi-transparent sapphire dial that allows UV light to charge the luminous components beneath, making the large date and month ring glow a bright green in the dark. The dial’s design cleverly connects the day display, seconds, and a new moonphase indicator that also shows whether it’s day or night, all in a distinctive triangular layout. It’s a showcase of both beautiful design and impressive watchmaking skill.

Turn the 41.9mm watch over, and you’ll find the L225.1 self-winding movement – a remarkable creation with 685 individual parts. Its central rotor is made from a combination of 18k white gold and platinum. The movement is beautifully finished, with highlights like the intricately detailed tourbillon cage and intermediate-wheel cock, both crafted from steel and polished to a mirror sheen. The tourbillon itself is decorated with hand-engraved stars and a shooting star, evoking a sense of precise, celestial timekeeping. This complex watch also includes a unique stop-seconds feature, allowing you to instantly stop the tourbillon and set the time with exceptional accuracy. Though the Lange 1 Lumen often steals the show with its luminous display, the new Saxonia Annual Calendar excels in subtle sophistication and impressive craftsmanship. This version has been redesigned with a smaller, 36mm case, making it more comfortable and easier to wear under a shirt cuff while still retaining the classic Saxon aesthetic. Available in white or pink gold with contrasting dial colors, the watch prioritizes clear readability thanks to its refined hands and newly designed hour markers. The dial is beautifully organized, seamlessly integrating displays for the day, month, and moon phase into a visually appealing and three-dimensional layout.

This elegant watch is powered by the new L207.1 movement, built in-house with a 60-hour power reserve and a remarkably accurate moon-phase display that will only need adjustment in 122.6 years. The moon-phase disc is a stunning miniature of the Milky Way, with a deep-blue finish and 428 individually painted stars. Staying true to its heritage, the movement is carefully assembled twice and features classic details like a hand-engraved balance cock, visible through the watch’s clear back. The annual calendar automatically handles the varying lengths of months, only needing a single adjustment each year when switching to March – it can be adjusted quickly with a pusher or individually.
