Jumanji 4: Open World – Final Installment Revealed with Robin Williams Tribute

The title and plot for the highly anticipated film have finally been released.

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday, Sony announced the title of the next Jumanji movie: Jumanji: Open World. Attendees got a sneak peek at footage that showed clips from previous films, hinting that the game is now coming into the real world. The teaser begins with a character discovering an old video game console, and then the scene around them starts to change. The group is brought together by Danny DeVito’s character at a diner, where they meet Dwayne Johnson’s Dr. Bravestone, who unexpectedly speaks with a Spanish accent.

Kevin Hart joins the adventure, confused about their goal, and they discover the video game characters are stuck in a limited “demo” state. Karen Gillan and Jack Black return, and once outside, they run into the Jumanji tour guide again. Things quickly escalate as the characters move like video game avatars, speeding through both the jungle and the real world. The game’s chaos spills over into reality, with huge animals like lizards and rhinos appearing, and Dwayne Johnson’s character comically struggles with driving on a highway. There’s even a funny argument between Johnson and Hart in Spanish, and Jack Black is seen riding a Segway. The trailer makes it clear the fate of Jumanji depends on them, before revealing the title Jumanji: Open World and showing the characters re-entering the game.

The new movie Jumanji: The Next Level—the third film starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan—will honor the late Robin Williams, who starred in the original Jumanji. Dwayne Johnson announced at CinemaCon that a piece of the original dice from the first film appears in every scene of the new movie. Jack Black, also at the event, said he had “never had so much fun” making a film.

Okay, so everyone’s been calling this Jumanji 3, but really it’s the fourth movie in the whole Jumanji saga. I heard a while back – back in November 2025, when they started filming – that this one was intended to wrap up the current story arc. Dwayne Johnson even mentioned they had a special plan to pay tribute to Robin Williams, which is a really nice touch.

We’re using the original Jumanji dice – the one from the movie with Robin Williams – as a tribute to him and everything he brought to this incredible series, now that we’re finishing filming the latest Jumanji movie.

Originally scheduled for December 11th, the movie’s release date was changed to Christmas Day in March. This shift sets up a competitive showdown at the box office, as Dune: Part Three and Avengers Doomsday are both coming out the week before on December 18th.

This isn’t the first time a Jumanji film has come out during the Christmas season. The original, released in 1995, premiered on December 15th. The 2017 sequel, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, also debuted in December, earning over $960 million globally. Now, the latest installment is hoping to capture that same holiday success.

Nick Jonas will be back as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough in the upcoming sequel, joining returning cast members Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, and Rhys Darby. Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes are new to the cast.
