Danny Hewitt wasn’t looking for romance with Bec Zacharia on Married At First Sight, but he didn’t hesitate to show off his skills as a pickpocket.
Sources say a cast member, 34-year-old Danny, reportedly took artwork from the walls of the hotel where the 2026 series is being filmed after a night of drinking. This is being described as one of the most surprising incidents to happen behind the scenes.
According to a source at Daily Mail, the individual was allegedly very intoxicated and unknowingly took the artwork.
Oh my gosh, I heard the staff were absolutely frantic when they realized something was gone! They had to spend ages pouring over the security camera recordings, trying to figure out exactly what happened and how it disappeared. It was a total mystery, and they really had to work to piece it all together, apparently!
According to sources, he was unaware of what happened and needed to see the video to understand. Another source described the situation as chaotic, saying he seemed completely out of it.
It appears Danny’s wild night wasn’t a one-off, either.
Insiders also claimed that the real estate agent had quite the penchant for painting the town red.
They suggested that Danny had ‘countless’ nights out during filming where he didn’t return home.
Being unexpectedly matched on the show meant Bec Zacharia had to constantly make up reasons to the crew to shield Danny from awkward situations.
Daily Mail has reached out to Danny for comment.
The couple have since broken up, and Bec was visibly upset during Sunday night’s finale of Married At First Sight when she saw footage of Danny cheating with another contestant, Stephanie Marshall.
When the couples began watching the show, Bec quickly started to cry, still upset about her recent split from Danny.
She became very upset while filming a scene where Danny told her he didn’t see her as someone he’d want to marry.
Bec looked completely heartbroken and openly showed her sadness, with Alissa Fay and Rachel Gilmore offering her comfort.
When Danny announced on TV that he didn’t want to be with his ex-wife, Bec angrily told him to be quiet.
Alissa started yelling insults at Danny, calling him a ‘loser’ and a ‘pig,’ while Bec continued to cry.
During Sunday’s episode, Bec revealed that she had discovered that Steph had been messaging Danny.
She learned the details directly from Stephanie, whom she ran into at the airport the day before the reunion. Stephanie even showed her the text messages she’d exchanged with Danny by letting her look at her phone.
Okay, so here’s what I noticed when I was looking at their messages. She actually initiated the conversation, telling him she’d been to Hamilton Island. His response was pretty simple – he just asked for photos. And she sent them! Four to be exact – mostly beautiful shots of the ocean, but one was a picture of her in a bikini. It’s a classic way people share experiences and, let’s be honest, a little bit of themselves, through social media and messaging!
His final voice message said he’d made lifelong friends through the experience, but he didn’t want to dwell on it ending – he needed to focus on moving forward.
She responded with a voice message saying it was lovely to hear from him, and he sent back two heart emojis.
Bec was visibly upset, telling the show’s producers she felt manipulated by Danny, who she accused of being dishonest and only pretending to care to reach the final commitment ceremony.
She mentioned the text messages to Steph once more, and Danny firmly insisted he had nothing to hide.
Still upset after Danny ended their relationship at their final vows ceremony, Bec tried to get him to acknowledge he never truly felt a connection with her, but he wouldn’t admit it.
Honestly, watching Bec finally explode was intense. All the tension she’d been holding onto throughout the whole series just came pouring out as she kept challenging both Steph and Danny, really pushing back at the table. It was like everything finally boiled over!
‘You are a dog, and so is she,’ Bec raged.
Following her outburst, Bec ran off crying, saying she needed some time to herself before finally confessing she still had feelings for Danny.
