Nicole Kidman revealed the straightforward advice she gave to her teenage daughters, who she shares with her former husband, Keith Urban.

The 58-year-old actor shared these thoughts while speaking at the University of San Francisco on Saturday as part of their Silk Speaker Series.

The Oscar winner explained that the choices you make today will have a lasting impact, but also reminded everyone that the future isn’t fixed and things can always change, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Honestly, she just gets it, you know? She was talking about how finding inner peace is everything for her, and it totally resonated. She said it’s about feeling like you can do anything, like the whole world is open to you! It’s so sad considering she just finished her divorce from Keith in January, but she seems determined to move forward and be happy, and I’m here for it!

She concluded by saying she’d told everyone he had a bright future, but warned it could also be very challenging.

Kidman has Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, with Urban.

Sunday Rose has begun her career as a fashion model, making her debut on the runway at Dior’s Paris Fashion Week show in November 2025.

The Australian actress also remembered advice her father, Antony Kidman, gave her years ago before he passed away in 2014.

The star, wearing a light pink pantsuit, explained that success requires perseverance. ‘You won’t always be the most intelligent person,’ they said, ‘so you need to be resourceful and clever.’

Kidman also mentioned that she’s learned and become stronger because of the challenges she’s faced in life.

The actress acknowledged it might seem unusual, but she feels a strong calling to support people in their final weeks of life.

I was so inspired to hear the actress speak at the event! She shared that she’s really focused on personal growth right now and is actually training to become a death doula. It’s amazing to see her dedicating herself to such meaningful work.

A death doula offers emotional, spiritual, and practical support to people who are nearing the end of life, and to their families. They are not medical professionals, but focus on holistic care, as defined by the International End Of Life Doula Association.

My father worked closely with people receiving palliative care, which sparked my interest in the growing field of death doulas. I recently learned about them, as I remembered how lonely my mother felt at the end of her life, and how difficult it was for our family to be there for her in the way she needed.

The actress from Moulin Rouge shared that she and her sister, both juggling busy careers and large families, realized they couldn’t give their mother the attention she needed. To ensure their mother received compassionate support, they decided to hire a death doula.

The actor explained, “I realized how much we need people who can offer unbiased support and genuine comfort.”

‘I feel it’s really important to have care on earth for the beginning and the end.’
