What are Leviathans in Monster hunter Wilds?
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Leviathan class is the second largest group, trailing only the Flying Wyverns. This category houses some of the largest and most perilous creatures in the game, including Jin Dahaad. These monsters pack a punch, but on the positive side, their immense size provides ample space to land attacks and gradually chip away at their health.
In this Monster Hunter Wilds manual, you’ll find a rundown of the Leviathans found within the game, along with tips for tackling their hunts effectively.
Monster Hunter Wilds Leviathans
As a thrilled gamer, I can tell you that Wilds, this epic game, boasts an impressive lineup of four colossal Leviathans, hailing from the larger monster category, along with two smaller variants. These monstrous beasts are all fresh additions to the series, and it’s been announced that Capcom is planning to introduce Mizutsune from Monster Hunter Generations and Rise in Wilds’ first free Title Update, which is set for April 2025.
Balahara
In the introductory cinematic of Wilds, you’ll come across Balaharas – colossal desert-dwelling sandworms residing in both the deserts and underground realms of Windward Plains. Their oozing assault can inflict a debilitating condition known as Waterblight on you, which significantly boosts the stamina expenditure for all your actions. Therefore, it’s not ideal to find yourself afflicted with this condition.
Balahara is weak to thunder.
Uth Duna
In the realm of the Scarlet Forest, Uth Duna stands as the dominant predator, a water-dwelling creature capable of inflicting a harmful condition known as waterblight. It safeguards itself using massive fins, yet when it lowers its defenses, it becomes remarkably swift. It’s not difficult to deduce that Uth Duna is susceptible to thunder-based attacks.
Hirabami
Hirabami resides at the Iceshard Cliffs primarily, but it may also be encountered in the elevated areas of Wyveria’s Ruins. This ice Leviathan is capable of causing Frostblight, leaving you frozen for a few moments unless you rapidly press buttons to break free. What makes Hirabami particularly challenging, however, is not just its elusive nature but also landing a successful hit. Due to its tendency to hover above the ground, targeting anything other than its tail can be tricky. To make hitting weak points easier, it’s recommended that you bring along a large weapon like the Long Sword or opt for a ranged weapon instead.
Hirabami is weak to thunder and fire.
Jin Dahaad
Jin Dahaad is a colossal predator, ruling supreme at the Iceshard Cliffs. This formidable creature possesses the ability to inflict iceblight, akin to waterblight but with frosty effects, as well as frostblight. Its most powerful skill, nearly unavoidable if you don’t take cover, could send you scrambling back to camp if you’re not careful. Our guide offers valuable advice on surviving Jin Dahaad’s explosive attack.
Jin Dahaad is only weak to fire.
Gajios and Piragill
In the Scarlet Forest and the rivers of the Windward Plains region, you’ll encounter two smaller creatures akin to Leviathans, named Gajios and Piragill. These beasts reside primarily in the Scarlet Forest, but Gajios can also be found in the rivers of the area. By using the Hook Slinger, you can collect materials from them or attempt to kill or capture them. The outcome may reward you with parts that are crucial for crafting armor and weapons.
Gajios’s components are often required in recipes for Chatacabra and Doshaguma armor, while Piragill Fins find use in a variety of applications, including alpha and beta armor sets.
