Monster Hunter Wilds free DLC will include legendary monster not seen for seven years
In the latest showcase for Monster Hunter Wilds, they’ve announced the comeback of an iconic monster that last appeared in the series back in 2017.
On March 25, Capcom unveiled a fresh trailer for the initial update of Monster Hunter Rise. This free content becomes available on April 3 and introduces Mizutsune, Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, along with a spacious gathering spot for Hunters to unwind together.
As a gamer, I’m pumped about the fresh batch of Challenge and Arena Quests that are now available! Completing these quests not only boosts my global rankings but also earns me some sweet rewards. But Hunters, listen up: Brace yourselves for the Summer update because an old adversary we’ve all been eagerly waiting for is set to make its comeback!
Lagiacrus returns in Monster Hunter Wilds
I’ve eagerly waited for seven years now since Lagiacrus made a grand entrance in a mainline Monster Hunter game. Known as the “Lord of the Seas,” this aquatic beast was initially planned to reappear in Monster Hunter World, but unfortunately, complications with its animations resulted in it being left out of the fearsome predator lineup.
Although initially thought to be a formidable creature, later discovered footage revealed that the water beast was quite clumsy, often appearing more likely to injure itself rather than inflict a deadly attack.
In other words, on March 25th, Capcom has brought back Lagiacrus from deep underwater, given it a high-definition makeover for its blue scales, and released it into the Forbidden Lands. That’s right, after seven long years, Lagiacrus is finally returning to its home with the summer update of Monster Hunter World.

Even though Capcom hasn’t demonstrated Thunder attacks yet, there was a quick glimpse of Lagiacrus piercing its prey with its sharp talons. Since underwater combat isn’t part of the Wilds, it’s probable that Lagi will navigate through the waterways of Scarlet Forest by swimming between zones in a manner similar to Uth Duna.
Even though Lagiacrus is proficient at hunting underwater, it retains the ability to deliver a stunning surprise on land. In fact, one of its deadliest attacks involves curling up before discharging a powerful burst of Thunder energy. This attack can instantly kill any hunter unfortunate enough to be in its path, while its claw swipes and moves reminiscent of Plesioth’s hip checks can push players back to the base camp.
Afterward, let’s talk about the weapons themselves, which, like Lagiacrus, possess a powerful elemental shock. With the emergence of the Sea Lord, players will gain access to more Thunder-element weapons, apart from Rey Dau and Fulgur Anjanath. Consequently, it’s reasonable to anticipate adjustments in the best armor sets and weapons tier list following the arrival of this legendary creature.
