Body language specialist Judi James analyzed Victoria Beckham’s actions during a recent public outing in Paris. This followed a surprising announcement made by her son, Brooklyn, last week, and the family seemed determined to present a united front.
The 51-year-old fashion designer received a prestigious honor – being named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters – in Paris. He was accompanied by his family: his husband David, 50, and their sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, as well as their daughter Harper, 14.
As expected, Brooklyn, 26, the eldest son, missed the event. This came just a week after he publicly cut off contact with his family, choosing to start a new life in the US with his wealthy wife, Nicola Peltz.
Following a difficult period for the family, Victoria appeared as a pillar of strength, taking center stage in photos from the event shared on Instagram, as observed by body language expert Judi James.

David and Victoria Beckham are determined to show their brand remains strong, even amidst ongoing personal difficulties. They’ve been presenting a united front, appearing in coordinated outfits with forced smiles, reminiscent of a stylish, yet slightly artificial, family act like the Osmonds or the Partridge Family.
However, this posture reveals Victoria’s genuine inner strength and resilience, as well as more distinct reactions from her offspring.
Here, the men don’t display any obvious signs of aggression or readiness to fight, and their partners don’t offer clear displays of affection or commitment, like a traditional show of loyalty as a future wife.
Judi described herself as looking like a powerful and supportive leader in the photo, explaining she intentionally posed in a central location to project confidence.
She described the woman as having a straight back and a confident expression, looking directly at the camera with a determined gaze. Notably, she was wearing a small, almost subtle, smile that suggested she was proud of her accomplishment.
Judi explained that Harper tilted her head towards her mother as a sign of love and devotion. Meanwhile, David’s body language indicated he was happily letting Judi have the attention.

This wasn’t the first time Brooklyn had missed a family event. He’d previously skipped his father’s 50th birthday party, the premiere of his mother’s Netflix series in the UK, and the ceremony where his father received his knighthood at Windsor Castle.
Despite recent family issues, the Beckhams seemed focused on celebrating Victoria’s achievement when she received a special award from the French Ministry of Culture.

She complimented her style, saying she gave millions of young women a fresh way to see themselves. For many, she was a real inspiration, encouraging everyone to be more free-spirited and confident.
Victoria stepped up to speak before the impressive audience, her family watching with pride. She began by expressing her gratitude to the French Ministry of Culture and Minister Rachida Dati, saying she was deeply honored by the recognition and their thoughtful comments.

She expressed her gratitude to her incredible team for their hard work, innovative ideas, and unwavering support.
David looked incredibly proud as he watched, and his son Cruz showed his support by placing a hand on his shoulder. Victoria thanked David for understanding her dedication to the business and for helping her create something they could both be proud of.
‘Thank you to my parents and to my children who are always believing in my vision,’ she continued.
Rachida fastened the medal onto her dress as the crowd erupted in applause and cheers, her family clapping excitedly from the front.

He celebrated her receiving the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres award from the French Ministry of Culture, adding that she truly deserves the honor. Romeo simply wrote ‘Proud of you mum’, but Cruz’s girlfriend, Jackie, shared a more detailed message with Victoria. She praised Victoria’s dedication, creativity, strength, and especially her kindness and respect for others, saying these qualities made her deserving of all her success. Jackie also expressed how Victoria inspires and uplifts everyone around her, and how wonderful it is to see her hard work acknowledged. She finished with a loving ‘We love you!!’
This was the Beckham family’s first public outing since Brooklyn shared some critical comments, and they appeared to be presenting a strong, unified image.
Since the influencer publicly stated he felt controlled by a family prioritizing their public image, and that his relationship with Nicola, 31, has brought him much-needed peace and relief from severe anxiety, they have remained quiet about the situation.
He claimed Victoria unexpectedly stopped designing his future wife’s wedding dress shortly before the wedding, and then disrupted their first dance by taking over and dancing provocatively with him in front of their guests.
Sources say Victoria is deeply hurt by Brooklyn’s recent, surprising comments and his discussion of past events, especially considering she worked for years to shield him from negative publicity.
According to Katie Hind of the Daily Mail, the Beckhams quickly worked to protect their son Brooklyn when rumors and stories about his personal life – including alleged romantic encounters and concerns about his friends – began to appear in the press.
His parents have often instructed expensive lawyers to protect him against such stories.
Another source says David and Victoria are deeply upset by recent events and would move back to Brooklyn immediately if they could.
After Brooklyn shared the story of his mother interrupting his first dance, the wedding DJ, Fat Tony, described exactly what happened on the TV show, This Morning.
The 60-year-old described the dance as very uncomfortable and said Nicola left the reception crying.
According to Tony, a close friend of the Beckhams, Marc Anthony caused an awkward moment. He said Anthony invited Victoria to dance with her son and then told the boy to put his hands on his mother’s hips.
He said: ‘There was no slut-dropping, there was no PVC cat suits, no Spice Girl action!
‘The word ‘inappropriate’, why I said it was as well, it was the timing, this is what happened.’
Tony explained that Marc Anthony was performing when he invited a person named Brooklyn to join him on stage.
Brooklyn stepped onto the stage, and everyone immediately anticipated Nicola would begin the first dance. Then, Marc asked the most beautiful woman in the room to join him on stage, and called for Victoria to come up.
He shared that Brooklyn seemed very upset his first dance was with Victoria instead of his wife, and that Nicola left the room in tears.
Tony continued, explaining that Brooklyn was left on stage during a performance, and Marc Anthony instructed everyone to ‘put your hands on your mother’s hips’ as part of a Latin-inspired move. It created a really uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone present.
I’ve worked many events for the Beckham family, and they’re a very close and lively group who really enjoy dancing. What some might consider inappropriate isn’t how Brooklyn sees things.
Ultimately, whether something felt wrong depends on how Brooklyn perceived it. If he found it uncomfortable or strange, then it was, for him.
It’s disappointing that people have focused on this one part of what was said and ignored everything else that happened.
I was really surprised to hear the DJ describe a moment where Brooklyn had his hands on his mom’s waist, and she had her arms wrapped around him. It just painted such a vivid picture, and honestly, it felt a little intimate to imagine.
‘The timing was inappropriate for me. It was meant to be a bride and groom’s moment,’ he told us.
I’m not taking sides or criticizing anyone involved, I’m simply clarifying what actually happened with the dance.
Honestly, I’ve been following this whole situation closely, and I’m starting to think Brooklyn’s story about Victoria suddenly backing out of making Nicola’s wedding dress isn’t quite right. It sounds like he claimed she cancelled at the last minute, leaving Nicola scrambling for something else, but people are questioning whether that’s actually what happened.
Four weeks after their wedding in April 2022, Nicola Peltz’s stylist, Leslie Fremar, revealed in a Vogue article that her custom Valentino wedding dress took a full year to create.
Nicola also addressed the disagreement in an interview with Grazia, explaining that after Victoria stated her team didn’t have time to create the dress, Nicola went directly to Valentino to begin working on the design.
As a huge fan of both Valentino and incredible style, I was so fascinated to learn that Leslie, the stylist behind some of my favorite looks on Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, and Charlize Theron, actually went to Rome twice to work directly with Pierpaolo Piccioli and the Valentino team! She really got to see the designs come to life firsthand, which is amazing.
Nicola had two fittings with US tailors, and the head seamstresses even traveled to Miami to guarantee a perfect fit.
Leslie described the event as the height of high fashion. She was particularly struck by how effective simplicity was – they actually removed embroidery from the dress because it didn’t need excessive detail to make a big impact.
Trouble started between the two over Nicola’s wedding dress, with reports suggesting she didn’t want to wear a design from Victoria’s fashion line.
Instead of wearing Victoria’s designs, she chose outfits from brands like Valentino, Christian Dior, and Versace. Nicola later acknowledged that the speculation started because she hadn’t worn Victoria’s clothes.
