In the Monster Hunter series, Palicos serve as essential companions for hunters, offering protection during fierce battles. It’s hardly shocking that these Felyne friends reappear in Monster Hunter Wilds, equipped with a variety of aid skills to boost your performance in combat. While leveling up is one method, it’s not the only way for your Palico to master new abilities.

There are several tasks that your Palico will ask for your help on, and “Rath-From-Above, Go” is one of the later ones. The assistance move you can unlock with this quest is incredibly useful, strong, and downright cute, so let’s work towards unlocking it!

How To Start The Rath-From-Above Quest

To access this later quest from your Palico, there are a few prerequisites you’ll have to meet first. Firstly, this quest becomes available only after the Zoh Shia battle in the post-game. Second, you will need to finish all previous quests that your Palico assigns you, like A Gutsy Move, Flash Course, and Healing Help.

Once all necessary conditions are fulfilled, feel free to visit any Base Camp where you can engage in conversation with your Palico near your tent. They may present an opportunity for a new quest, which involves tracking down a specific monster. To embark on this hunt, make your way to Alma.

It has to be this specific quest, as hunting any other Quematrice will not advance the quest.

How To Defeat Quematrice

As a low-level monster in the game, Quematrice isn’t extremely complex. However, you might encounter them for the first time in High Rank, where they become notably tougher. The strategies you used previously still apply, but do exercise extra caution. Make sure you have robust armor and effective weapons on hand.

During this hunt, your Palico will employ the Rath-From-Above move, leaping into a miniature aerial vessel and providing cover fire for you. Once the hunt concludes, this maneuver becomes available for your Palico to execute whenever they think it’s appropriate. You won’t have control over when it’s used, but that’s consistent with every Palico skill. Just rely on their Felyne instincts.

Rath-From-Above takes some time to recharge, meaning your Palico won’t often be leaping into the skies.
