RaveDAO’s 250% Spike Ignites Pump-and-Dump Fears After Suspicious Deposit

The price of RaveDAO’s $RAVE token surged over 250% in the last 24 hours, jumping from about $0.36 to a peak of nearly $1.31 before settling around $1.28, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Trading activity exploded, increasing by 1,300% to over $270 million – almost equaling the project’s total value of $307 million. This sudden interest transformed the little-known Web3 project into the biggest conversation of the day.

The recent increase in the price of RAVE happened without any announcement from the team beforehand.

As a researcher, I started noticing unusual activity on the blockchain. About ten hours before the price suddenly jumped, I observed two wallets associated with the project depositing around 18.58 million tokens – which were worth approximately $8 million at the time – onto Bitget, a major cryptocurrency exchange. This raised a red flag, as it suggested something was about to happen.

The cryptocurrency RAVE experienced a massive 232% price increase in 24 hours, coinciding with a large deposit of RAVE tokens into the Bitget exchange by addresses potentially linked to the project’s creators. These two addresses deposited 18.58 million RAVE tokens (worth $8 million at the time, when the price was only $0.43) about 10 hours before the price surge began. That same amount of RAVE is now worth around $19.08 million, with the current price at $1.027. This situation feels eerily familiar to past instances of price manipulation.

The timing of this event caught people’s attention on X (formerly Twitter), and many noticed it mirrored patterns they’d seen with other cryptocurrencies.

Experts are still worried about the project’s limited number of tokens in circulation – only about 239 million out of a potential 1 billion (around 24%). Because so few tokens are readily available, even a small increase in buying could cause the price to rise dramatically, especially with high trading volume.

After numerous scams and unfair sales, large transfers of tokens from wallets connected to a project always raise red flags. Because so few tokens are currently available and the price has quickly dropped and then recovered in the past, this situation attracts both people eager to buy and those betting the price will soon fall.

What is RaveDAO? 

RaveDAO started as an afterparty for around 200 people at a crypto conference in Istanbul in November 2023. Since then, it’s grown into a project that hosts live electronic dance music events, using blockchain technology for things like ticketing and to help build a strong community.

The project recently had a very successful event in Hong Kong. Looking ahead, it will feature the Dim Sum Rave on April 18, 2026, and will also be part of the Lisbon Dance Summit from April 29th to May 2nd, 2026, culminating in a closing party.

The $RAVE token plays a key role in the project. Event organizers can use it to secure licenses for official events, and attendees can use it to buy tickets and access other features.

In my research, I’ve found that around 72% of voters, according to CoinMarketCap, currently seem optimistic about this token. They believe recent successes like sold-out events and the staking system will keep the price going. However, there’s also a significant amount of skepticism, with some people pointing out that we’ve seen similar surges before that ultimately ended badly when large amounts of tokens were unlocked or people started selling to take profits.

It’s still unclear if this signals lasting success for real-world events happening in the metaverse, or if it will be another example of something that didn’t quite work out. We’ll likely know more in the next few days.
