How to get the best armor in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, you won’t be able to access the finest armor until you’ve completed the campaign and transitioned into the endgame, where Rarity 8 armor (the highest tier) becomes accessible. However, there are multiple choices for armor to choose from, each with its unique benefits. Additionally, there are additional methods to enhance your defense against monsters’ attacks. Here, we’ll guide you on obtaining the best armor in MH Wilds and provide tips for upgrading it effectively.
How to get the best armor in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the top armor is any Rarity 8 gear that becomes available once you finish Chapter 6 in the main story. Following this milestone, Gemma introduces five distinct armor sets of such high-tier quality for players to craft (excluding aesthetic alternatives). Each of these armors can potentially claim the title of “best armor”, depending on your preferred playstyle and weapons, as they are all equally strong contenders in their respective roles.
If you’re curious about the time it takes to reach a certain point in Monster Hunter World, we won’t give it away here, but you can discover the answer by checking out our guide titled “How Long is Monster Hunter World”. Here’s a breakdown of some armor sets and what they are best suited for:
1. Nergigante Alpha Armor – This set is designed to withstand high-rank monsters and provides increased defense and attack power.
2. Anjanath Alpha Armor – Ideal for taking down low-rank and high-rank monsters, this armor set offers a balance of defense and offense.
3. Diablos Alpha Armor – Suited for players who prefer a more defensive playstyle, this armor set provides increased defense against blunt force attacks.
4. Jagras Alpha Armor – Perfect for beginners or those looking to learn the basics of hunting, this armor set offers decent protection and is easy to obtain.
- Arkveld α (Alpha): Elemental power, weakness exploitation, speed and aggression.
- Arkveld β (Beta): Less significant skill buffs than the α model, but more decoration options.
- Guardian Arkveld α (Alpha): Exploiting monster wounds and damage focus.
- Guardian Arkveld β (Beta): Less significant skill buffs than the α model, but more decoration options.
- Guild Ace α (Alpha): Across-the-board elemental defense, evasion, status effects and staying at full health.
Essentially, there are four different armor variants from Arkveld, which excel in aggressive gameplay, while the Guild Ace is designed for strategic play and offers benefits for utilizing status effects, dodging, and a damage boost when at full health. Ultimately, the best choice among these sets depends on your individual playing style and skill level. Ranged players will likely find success with the Guild Ace, whereas Dual Blades users should opt for the Arkveld models.
After obtaining the required sets, utilize Gemma’s Forge to enhance the armor obtained using Armor Spheres. These spheres can be earned as rewards from missions or by crafting at the Everforge. With Armor Spheres, the defense of these items will increase to 12, a significant advantage. Furthermore, if you’ve selected a set that accommodates Decorations, ensure you equip the suitable ones to match your gameplay style.
