As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I’m really bummed to hear that Paramount+ is effectively ending the current run of the franchise. It feels like just yesterday we had five different Trek shows going at once, and they were even planning to add Starfleet Academy in 2026. Now, it’s all over – every single series has been canceled, and the final two, Starfleet Academy and Strange New Worlds, are officially done. It’s a tough time to be a Trekker, honestly.
Production on the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds finished just before Christmas in 2025. Shortly after the first season finale aired, Paramount+ decided to cancel Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Despite the cancellation, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy had already completed filming its second and final season by the end of February.
According to TrekCentral, the sets used for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy are being dismantled. The show was filmed at the Star Trek Stage at Pinewood Studios Toronto, and pieces of the set will be available for purchase in an online auction this Friday.

The sets used for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are also being dismantled. The show was filmed at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga.

The series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy featured the most expansive sets in Star Trek history. Sadly, when the show was canceled, these impressive sets – including the multi-level atrium with the Starfleet Wall of Heroes, the bridge of the USS Athena, and various classrooms – were torn down.
The sets for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds were beautifully designed, and sadly, they’ve now been dismantled. This includes iconic locations like the USS Enterprise bridge, Captain Pike’s ready room, the Science Lab, and his cozy quarters, complete with a luxurious kitchen and fireplace.
At the 53rd annual Saturn Awards in March, Henry Alonso Myers, an executive producer and co-showrunner for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, mentioned that the show’s sets were being stored, suggesting a possible future for the Star Trek: Year One spinoff – a series that would have focused on Captain James T. Kirk (played by Paul Wesley). Unfortunately, those plans are now unlikely, as the sets have been dismantled.
A petition to save the show Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has gained over 42,000 signatures. However, with the sets for the USS Athena already being dismantled, it’s now impossible for Paramount+ to decide to make a third season.
For the first time in almost ten years, there aren’t any new Star Trek shows being made or planned. With the sets for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy being dismantled, it feels like a significant chapter is closing. However, fans still have upcoming seasons of those existing Star Trek series to look forward to.
There are 10 episodes ready for the second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and seasons 4 and 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – a total of 16 episodes – have already been filmed. This means fans can still look forward to new Star Trek content on Paramount+ in 2026 and 2027, despite the fact that some of the show’s incredible sets will soon be dismantled.
