How Do You Meet Ygwulf in Avowed?

In the heart of the game’s narrative, I find myself mysteriously targeted for assassination. Picking up on subtle hints scattered throughout the world, my journey eventually leads me to the Temple of Ondra in Paradis. Hidden beneath this sacred place, a group of rebels responsible for my attempted murder lie in wait.

With grit and determination, I descend into their hidden lair, battling through waves of rebels as I make my way deeper. Finally, I reach a room where Ygwulf and other rebels gather. As soon as I step foot inside, an intense conversation with the assassin unfolds.

Ygwulf had a dream where he saw you and believed it was a divine sign to take your life. However, since the gods brought you back from the dead, he has come to understand his actions were incorrect. Now, you have three options for handling Ygwulf:

• You can forgive him and let him go.
• You can convince him to give himself up to the Steel Garrote.
• You can kill him.

Now, let’s take a look at how each of these choices pans out.

Forgiving Ygwulf

In our conversation, opting for “let them go peacefully” concludes the interaction without conflict. Moreover, your benevolence earns Ygwulf’s gratitude, who rewards you with an Adra and 625 coins immediately. Furthermore, a Passage of Writ, offered by one of the assassin’s associates later, will guarantee protection against any future uprisings.

Opting for this choice would lead to dissatisfaction from both Ambassador Hylgard and Inquisitor Lodwyn. If it’s about avoiding the Ambassador’s disappointment, a white lie might be necessary in this situation.

Convincing Ygwulf To Give Himself Up

The second choice is to persuade Ygwulf in Avowed to surrender to the Steel Garrote. Choosing this path means bypassing a fight, but you’ll forgo collecting Adra or gold from him. However, you can receive 1500 coins at the Embassy and earn favor with Inquisitor Lodwyn in his records.

Be aware that from now, any rebels you encounter, whether on the streets or elsewhere, will immediately attack you. This choice ultimately results in Ygwulf’s death by the Steel Garrote. In response to this, your former companion from the game’s prologue, Garryck, will be killed by the rebels.

Fighting Ygwulf

The final choice involves accusing Ygwulf and his associates in the vicinity of an assault. Following a strenuous battle, you’ll be able to plunder the corpse of the assassin and acquire a distinctive armor known as Blackwing Armor, which enhances stealth abilities. Additionally, the assassin will carry a health potion and 48 gold coins, but the loot from Adra cannot be taken. Nevertheless, you’ll still receive the 1500 gold at the embassy and gain goodwill with both the Ambassador and Inquisitor Lodwyn.
