Connecting To The Past

- Location: Watcher’s Mirror
In the game Avowed, there are numerous Ancient Memories, though they don’t have specific titles. One such memory, known as Dawnshore, can be found within Watcher’s Mirror. In these memories, the players will assist another Godlike figure in making decisions about their life path.

5. Cabin Fever
My Twin Is A Lizard

- Location: Claviger’s Landing
In Claviger’s Landing, it’s likely that the initial side quest players embark on is Cabin Fever. Here, you’ll come across a troubled shopkeeper named Dehengen who needs help. At first glance, her request might seem like typical side quests in RPGs, such as clearing out rats from a cellar. However, the task involves ensuring Dehengen’s cabin north of the docks is free of pests. Players have several options to reach there, one of which is crossing a bridge where Xaurip corpses, reptilian people, are scattered on the ground.
In a tent, they’ll discover a larger Xaurip creature, possibly responsible for the deaths of its kin, who poses no threat to the players. Though incomprehensible to them, this beast is harmless. Meanwhile, at the cabin, players can uncover documents that reveal Dehengen’s past. When confronted, Dehengen admits a connection with the big Xaurip, as it holds half of her soul, creating a metaphysical bond between them. This intricate side quest, rich in depth, is a hit among many Avowed players, making up a significant part of their gaming experience.
4. Escape Plan
Getting Out Of Dodge

- Location: Shantytown
In the game “Avowed”, players won’t receive any substantial physical rewards such as items or weapons through the Escape Plan mission. Instead, it will be gratifying because it assists refugees in breaking free from oppressive rule. Characters Leoflaed and Glaedwine, who live in Shantytown, are among those seeking help. They need the player’s aid to acquire a crucial document.
In this mission, even if players have ensured their safety, they’ll need to negotiate with some questionable characters. Fortunately, this operation can proceed peacefully as long as the woman in the game’s tutorial is rescued prior. Her intervention during the negotiations for this side quest will ensure that Leoflaed and Glaedwine can leave Dawnshore unhindered.
3. Precious Light
Using Adra For Good

- Location: Castol’s Folly
To initiate the “Precious Light” side quest in Avowed, players should navigate towards the eastern edge of the map, following the chain of islands known as Castol’s Folly. Along this journey, they will encounter several groups of bandits and pirates. Eventually, their path will lead them to a halt where they will cross paths with Captain Trevik. Unluckily for him, he was caught red-handed in stealing Adra from the fleet commanded by Captain Bardatto.
In the game “Avowed,” Adra is one of the valuable resources, deeply intertwined with the game’s narrative and utilized for upgrades. Players have several options to complete this mission: they can either eliminate Captain Trevik on the spot or grant his request to return the Adra to Paradis, delivering it to Sapiento de Falva. Alternatively, players may choose to negotiate or kill Captain Bardatto during their journey, but giving it to Sapiento de Falva is the honorable path, resulting in a delightful exchange.
2. A Lady Never Tells
Helping The Courtesans

- Location: The Mermaid’s Den (Paradis)
Players must first gain proper access to Paradis before they can take on the mission “A Lady Never Tells.” In the district known as the courtesan area, players will assist a woman in repelling Sparrowhawks, a notorious local gang. The woman requests that players meet her madam, Giuliana, at The Mermaid’s Den.
Giuliana requires assistance from the players to recover a cargo that was stolen by the Sparrowhawks at the docks. These thieves can either be confronted or negotiated with. While the players have the option to inquire about the nature of the cargo, it’s crucial they keep quiet and carry out the task. However, this straightforward approach isn’t particularly engaging. Delving further into the story, players will uncover that Giuliana is transporting contraceptives, which are illegal in this region. By choosing to help her, players can either betray her or become a valuable ally who’s assisting in a noble cause aimed at helping the city’s women.
1. Dawntreader
Defiling The Souls Of The Dead

- Location: Pilgrim’s Path/Temple of Eothas
Among the most outstanding side missions in the game, Dawntreader stands out not only on Dawnshore but across the entire game. To embark on this quest, interact with Secgwin and Kauia who are positioned near the Temple of Eothas’ gates. They appear to be in disagreement regarding an expedition team that hasn’t returned from within the temple. Once you venture inside, you’ll encounter one member of the team, Caedmon, followed by Sargamis, the temple’s priest or guardian.
He needs the players to retrieve an artifact as they search for adventurers, which he claims hasn’t been seen before. To everyone’s surprise, soldiers are found on testing tables that Sargamis had been involved with. When questioned, Sargamis confesses his intention is to transfer the soldiers’ spirits into a statue for worshipping his deity. In Avowed, Last Light of Day, players can decide whether to join this cult-like worship or battle Sargamis to acquire an impressive early sword. Regardless of their choice, the cave network within the Temple of Eothas is what makes this a unique and lengthy side quest memorable.
