The movie The Housemaid, featuring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, has been very popular in theaters, and now the writer of the original bestselling novel has revealed who she really is.
Freida McFadden is the pen name of author Sara Cohen. She’s written several books, including the novels The Housemaid and the Dr. Jane McGill and Prescription: Murder series.
Dr. Cohen is both a writer and a physician specializing in brain disorders. She kept her writing name separate from her medical identity to avoid any professional conflicts.

She told USA Today she was done keeping her identity under wraps. She’s frustrated by the constant speculation about whether she’s a genuine person or a group of men, and wants to make it clear she is a real individual with nothing to hide.
She clarified that her glasses and wig aren’t meant to hide anything, playfully admitting she’s not good at doing her hair. She then added with a laugh that her real life is much less exciting than the plots in her novels.

Cohen explained that she wanted to keep her true identity hidden until she left her medical career. She feared that if her colleagues found out too soon, it would make her job difficult.
Fortunately, her kind coworkers discovered what was happening but kept it confidential. She left her full-time job three years ago and now works only occasionally, about once or twice a month.

Cohen explained that despite only recently revealing their name, they feel they’ve been authentic and truthful in all their previous interactions.
You might be surprised by the announcement, but everything else about me will feel familiar. I’ve always been honest and open with you all.
