When you initially establish your camp within “Avowed”, you may come across a collection of stones that serve as a Totem placement site. The Totem of the Rightful Rulership at Dawnshore grants potent bonuses when added to your encampment, but maximizing its benefits requires you to gather all of its fragments.

In the game Avowed, there’s a unique symbol or emblem, known as a Totem, in each region. Each Totem consists of two primary components: a foundation and several pieces called fragments. In the initial area of the game, Dawnshore, you will be required to locate the Totem associated with Woedica, specifically the Scales of the Oathbinder. Your objective is to find all six fragments that make up this particular Totem.

Fortunately, the game offers some indications on where to locate those items. You can purchase a guide from Sanza’s Emporium in Paradis Hightown, which provides you with riddles detailing the locations of each Totem Fragment. Some of these clues are clearer than others, but if you find yourself having trouble understanding all of them, we have the exact location for each Totem Fragment and the statue’s pedestal.

What is the Totem of the Rightful Rulership?

The statue honoring Woedica goes by several titles in Avowed, including The Scales of the Oathbinder and The Totem of Rightful Authority. No matter its name, it provides these enhancements:

4. Fortified aura for nearby allies.
5. Bonus to wisdom and insight.
6. Enhanced chance of success in diplomatic endeavors.

Each buff is connected to a piece of a totem, and you can trigger a buff when you attach the matching piece to your camp’s Totem Base. You can find all six Totem Pieces scattered around Dawnshore. If you’re looking for hints about their locations without giving away specific spots, you can purchase a document called Fragments of the Scales from Sanza’s Emporium in Paradis Hightown for 575 coins. This document provides a series of riddles, each one corresponding to the location of a fragment. Alternatively, you can check out the image below and save yourself some money.

As a devoted fan, I’d recommend diving right into the mystery presented by the initial riddle on your list. It subtly hints at the location where you can discover the foundation of the Totem, the Scales of the Oathbringer. Since this is the first fragment of the statue we need to collect, let’s begin our quest there!

Where to find the Scales of the Oathbinder Totem Base in Avowed

To put the fragments on the Totem of Rightful Rulership at your camp, it’s essential that you obtain the Totem Base and the Scales of the Oathbinder first.

East of The Rise, situated north of Paradis, lies a place known as the Shrine of Woedica. Here, you’ll discover the Scales of the Oathbinder Totem Base. This item can be found on a modest table in the center of the area. Simply approach it and interact with it to add it to your collection without any worry, as the locals won’t bother an envoy for taking a revered artifact – they won’t make a scene over it.

How to place the Totem at your camp and add fragments

Once you’ve acquired the Scales of the Oathbinder Totem Base, you can now go back to any camp site. Look for a group of rocks with candles at their base. If you have the Totem Base in your possessions, simply approaching these stones will cause it to be automatically placed on one of the altars.

Afterward, you can engage with the Totem Base to insert items from your stockpile. These actions immediately trigger the item’s effect.

Where to find the Broken Crown Jewel in Avowed

• Riddle: “This golden crown’s stolen gem, can be found in the emporium.”
• Location: On a desk in the backroom of Sanza’s Emporium in Paradis Hightown.

Among the six Totem Fragments, the Broken Crown Jewel could be the most effortlessly discovered one – its hint even reveals its whereabouts. However, due to its diminutive size compared to the others, it’s quite simple to miss.

The following item of interest can be found in the cluttered back room of Sanza’s Emporium, atop a desk piled high with books, scrolls, and various academic knick-knacks. Be sure to remain vigilant; the jewel is so tiny that it almost vanishes amidst the collection of items surrounding it. I had to scour the store numerous times before noticing it was situated on the right side of the desk.

Where to find the Golden Flames in Avowed

• Riddle: “Atop the isle of wicked outlaws, flicker golden flames of a glorious cause.”
• Location: On the eastern coast of Castol’s Folly, atop pink cloth at an abandoned campsite overlooking the water’s edge.

Moving forward, we encounter The Golden Flames. To obtain this Totem Piece, you’ll need to journey southwards to Castol’s Folly. You can reach the island using any route that suits you, but I chose to cross the water from the eastern side of the island, which brought me closer to the fragment’s location as indicated on the map provided above.

If you come from the east side of the island like I did, you’ll stumble upon a group of smugglers who will attack you immediately. Alternatively, find another entrance on the island to reach the east side. Be aware that this region is swarming with smugglers, so your team should be ready for a battle. As you get nearer to the marker indicated on the map above, keep an eye out for ledges along the cliffside and use your parkour skills to traverse them. On one such ledge, you’ll find a small deserted campsite where the Golden Flames are resting atop some pink blankets.

Where to find the Golden Plaque of Oaths in Avowed

• Riddle: “Below death’s grip so icy and cold, await ancient oaths cast in gold.”
• Location: In a small cavern at Usher’s Hand, reached by swimming underwater in a cave.

You’ll discover the Golden Plaque of Oaths situated to the east beyond Paradis, specifically at Usher’s Hand. This artifact is hidden within a secluded cave, but access is limited as the entrance is sealed off from its surroundings. To reach it, you’ll need to dive into a nearby pool and navigate through an underwater tunnel.

The Golden Plaque of Oaths lies east of Paradis, specifically at Usher’s Hand. It’s tucked away in a secret cavern that is isolated from its surroundings. To get to it, you must dive into a nearby pool and swim through an underwater passageway.

To locate the pond, travel along the road east from the map’s POI point, moving as if tracing the “palm” of your hand. Along this route, find a tunnel situated nearby and pass through it. As you progress, you’ll eventually reach a small water body. Prepare to wade, for you must enter by jumping into the pond and swimming towards the lower opening. Upon doing so, you’ll discover a small room with a metal grate ceiling, where the Golden Plaque of Oaths lies atop some debris among the ruins.

Where to find the Golden Plaque of Promises in Avowed

• Riddle: “Beneath an amethyst light on high, this shining plaque draws sailors’ eyes.”
• Location: Towards the top of the derelict lighthouse found west of Claviger’s Landing.

Reaching the summit of the lighthouse may seem unattainable, but rest assured, you can indeed manage that leap. If you’ve previously attempted scaling the structure, you’re familiar with the challenge. For those who haven’t—it’s time to muster courage and step out in faith.

As a gamer, I started my adventure in the Living Lands at Claviger’s Landing. Heading west, I spotted a towering lighthouse where my quest might lead. At the back of this structure, I noticed some wooden scaffolding inviting me to climb. After scaling several platforms, I found one significantly taller than the rest. With a running leap, I grabbed hold and hoisted myself up, guided by an instinctive sense of adventure.

To locate the Golden Plaque of Promises, proceed along the remaining scaffolding. Eventually, you’ll discover an entryway into the lighthouse’s interior. As you ascend further, you’ll come across both the Treasure Map and a golden chest.

Where to find the Golden Scale of Justice in Avowed

• Riddle: “Overlooking booths where goods are sold, this balcony leads to orders hold.”
• Location: In an abandoned stockroom in northern Paradis.

The elusive Golden Scale of Justice could prove challenging to locate. Begin your quest by visiting the Apothecary’s Shop situated in northern Paradis. Look for a red wall to the left of the shopkeeper, then ascend this wall. Continue along the red railing to your left. Eventually, you’ll spot a small alley with wooden scaffolding on your right. Ascend the scaffolding until you reach a stone balcony bearing a chest. From there, proceed southwest and follow the balconies until you come across one adorned with a paint easel.

1. To find the mysterious Golden Scale of Justice, first, go to the Apothecary’s Shop in Paradis’ north.
2. Look for a red wall to the shopkeeper’s left and climb up it.
3. Follow the red railing to your left.
4. You’ll see wooden scaffolding on your right in an alley. Climb that.
5. Reach a stone balcony with a chest, then move southwest.
6. Keep following balconies until you find one with a paint easel.

Step through the open balcony door, and you’ll discover a disorganized bedroom. A ladder stands on one side of the room. Descend the stairs, and a spectral adversary lies in wait for you. Overcome it, along with the waves of duplicates it produces, and the Golden Scale of Justice will be found amidst a stack of books near an overturned bookshelf in that very room.

Where to find the Golden Scale of Order in Avowed

• Riddle: “In Dwarven halls ‘neath mountain shroud, the Strangler’s justice can still be found.”
• Location: At the top of Pargrun Cache, in a bird’s nest.

Finally, I’d like to introduce the Golden Scale of Order. Let’s grab our hiking shoes; we’re venturing as far north as Dawnshore will take us.

In this version, I tried to maintain a conversational tone while keeping the information clear and easy to understand. The phrase “Last, but not least” has been replaced with “Finally”, and instead of using “heading”, I opted for a more active verb like “venturing”. Additionally, I used “as far north as Dawnshore will take us” to make the destination more vivid and engaging.

1. The diagram above marks the spot where you’ll discover the Golden Scale of Order – the ancient Dwarven ruins known as Pargrun Cache. To gain entry, make your way from the western side, close to the bridge. Upon arrival, you’ll stumble upon explosive barrels that can be detonated, creating a passage through the wall. Once they’re gone, you can ascend the wooden structures within.

2. The Golden Scale of Order is located at Pargrun Cache, as indicated on your map. To enter these long-forgotten Dwarven ruins, head westward towards the bridge, then look for some explosive barrels. Detonate them to create a hole in the wall and gain access. Inside, you’ll find wooden platforms you can climb.

3. On your map, you’ll see the Golden Scale of Order is at Pargrun Cache. To explore these old Dwarven ruins, approach from the west, near the bridge. Once there, you’ll come across some barrels filled with explosives. Use them to blast a hole in the wall and enter. Inside, climb up on the wooden platforms.

4. The Golden Scale of Order is at Pargrun Cache, as shown on your map. To get inside these ancient Dwarven ruins, go westward towards the bridge. There, you’ll find explosive barrels that can be detonated to make a passage through the wall. Once done, climb up the wooden platforms inside.

5. Your map reveals the Golden Scale of Order is at Pargrun Cache. To enter these abandoned Dwarven ruins, approach from the west, near the bridge. You’ll spot some barrels with explosives nearby. Use them to blast a hole in the wall and gain access. Inside, you can ascend the wooden platforms.

Climb up the building’s stairs at the peak, then walk along the trail hugging the mountain’s slope. Eventually, you’ll notice what seems like a giant dwarven hall entrance, though it’s obstructed by creepers. Circumvent the structure to its left, and you’ll discover another wall that can be broken down. This can be demolished using a grenade if available, or one of the Magran’s Fury hidden close by.

Make your way into the space vacated by the blast, ascend additional wooden ramps, and proceed through another opening in the wall up high. Leap across a narrow chasm to a rocky platform, and there you’ll find the Golden Scale of Order tucked away next to a rejuvenating potion.

Completing the Totem and the subsequent cutscene

As a fervent enthusiast, I’ve got quite the collection of travel fragments at my disposal. These let me hop to any party camp location with ease. Now, over yonder lies the Scales of the Oathbinder, and upon interacting with it, I can deposit all my Totem Fragments. This action sets off an intriguing cutscene where my character listens in as Woedica and Hylea discuss a vital source of essence hidden within the Living Lands.

In this particular scene, your choice among the dialogue options doesn’t have a significant impact on the final result; it seems the goddesses are oblivious to your selection. Eventually, Woedica concludes the conversation by stating she will uncover the menace in Eora and identify the origin of the essence.
