In the sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, much like any other role-playing game, your journey is heavily influenced by decisions you make. These decisions shape your gaming experience. For instance, during the main mission of Back in the Saddle, a crucial choice presents itself: you’ll be offered the chance to swap out your horse, Pebbles.
In the game, you have several horses to pick from, and one of them is Pebbles. At first, it might seem that Herring, with his higher value, is the better choice. But hold on, there are crucial factors to think about before making a final decision. Let’s help you determine which horse would be ideal for you.
Should You Replace Pebbles?
Once you’ve listened to Chamberlain’s words and gathered your belongings, it’s now time for you to make your way to Kabat, the stablehand. As previously agreed, he will provide you with a horse, making it easier for your journey ahead. Should you accept this gift, your current horse, Pebbles, will be replaced by a new one.
While it might seem tempting to swap out Pebbles, let me clarify that she is Henry’s long-time horse. Although sentimental value does play a role here, there are more practical considerations at hand. After journeying approximately 35km with Pebbles, you will unlock the Good Old Pebbles bonus feature, making this steed one of the strongest in the game. With this bonus activated, Pebbles’ stats will undergo a substantial upgrade.

Instead of Herring’s perk being activated after traveling just 50 kilometers, keep in mind that you’ll need to cover a longer distance before you can enjoy this benefit. Consequently, if you select Herring, it means there’s a greater time investment required to unlock the perk, but the advantage may not be as significant compared to other options.
Kabat’s Offer

If you decide to hold onto Pebbles as your horse, Kabat will propose an unusual arrangement. He hints that he might inform Von Bergow that you stole the horse so he could sell it to nomad traders. In return for participating in his plan, you would receive 300 Groschen.
If you can convince Kabat with your speech skills, he will offer you 600 Groschen instead of 300.
As a passionate admirer, I’d eagerly seek out Kabat for his wisdom. Not only does he share insightful tips, but he generously equips me with essential gear for my beloved steed.
