Cast of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives drops hint at return after Taylor Frankie Paul’s court battle with ex

Filming for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is expected to start again soon, despite a recent and intense court hearing involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her former boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

As a huge fan of the show, I was really shocked to hear that filming was stopped. It turns out there were serious allegations of domestic violence involving Paul and Mortensen, and honestly, I was worried we might not even get a Season 5! It was a really unsettling time for all of us who love the series.

Let me tell you, the issues with Paul didn’t end there. She was actually chosen to be the next Bachelorette, which is a huge opportunity! But unfortunately, some old footage from a 2023 incident resurfaced online, and ABC had to cancel the entire season. It was a really tough situation for everyone involved.

Honestly, I was so shocked when ABC decided not to air her season of The Bachelorette. It really left everyone wondering what would happen with Sister Wives, and if it would even continue. All the focus immediately shifted back to that show and its future, which felt really unsettling as a long-time viewer.

Despite a tense court hearing less than a day earlier – where Paul’s lawyer claimed Mortensen was attempting to damage his reputation while he sought a restraining order – those involved with the show now seem more hopeful about its continuation.

People involved with the show told TMZ on Wednesday that the cast – including Jessi Draper, Mayci Neeley, and Layla Taylor – are optimistic filming will start up again soon. There’s a lot of pressure to finish the show quickly and prevent any more setbacks.

But a source familiar with the situation told the publication that Hulu hasn’t decided what will happen with the show, including if the rest of Season 5 will be completed.

Actors Neeley and Taylor recently fueled speculation about a possible reunion after posting mysterious messages that suggested filming might start up again soon.

I’m a big fan of both Call Her Daddy and Seeking Sister Wife, so I was really excited to see Neeley and Taylor – they’re both so great – sharing an article about Alex Draper’s interview! It sounds like she’s hoping they can start filming Seeking Sister Wife again, and Neeley and Taylor added some really interesting comments of their own, which definitely got me thinking!

Neeley reshared the piece writing, ‘We’re ready,’ alongside a video camera emoji.

She declared, ‘Let’s reclaim Barbieland!’ – a playful reference to the popular 2023 Barbie film featuring Margot Robbie.

Taylor, meanwhile, reshared the same article and wrote, ‘Let’s do this girls!!!’

She expressed her love and gratitude for her team, and also thanked Jeff Jenkins Productions and Hulu.

After Tuesday’s court hearing, Mortensen’s lawyers strongly criticized Paul, claiming she attempted to unfairly damage Dakota’s reputation as a father.

This happened during the long online hearing where Mortensen asked the court to protect them from Paul.

A previous court order, issued on March 20th, prevented Taylor from visiting their son until a hearing held on Tuesday.

Currently, Mortensen is temporarily caring for her 2-year-old son, Ever. She also has two other children – an eight-year-old daughter named Indy and a five-year-old son named Ocean – with her former spouse, Tate Paul.

The judge granted Paul eight hours of supervised visits with his children each week, at least until the next court date.

In a surprising turn of events, Paul obtained a temporary restraining order against Mortensen on Wednesday, sharing evidence she claims demonstrates abuse.

In a court filing for a restraining order in Utah, Paul provided photos showing injuries she claims happened during an assault in May 2025, and bruises from an alleged attack in February 2026.

Paul also claimed that Mortensen stalked and assaulted her, and became overly controlling before her planned appearance on ‘The Bachelorette,’ which has now been canceled.

The hearing was held after a new investigation began in February, prompted by recent claims that Paul assaulted Mortensen.

In March, Mortensen reported another incident from 2024, leading to a third police investigation.

The court hearing follows news reports that Paul will still be paid her full fee for appearing on The Bachelorette, even though the show was unexpectedly cancelled.

The TV personality had finished filming and done a lot of promotion for the project before it was cancelled.

Sources at TMZ say her contract ensures she’ll be paid for her work, so she’s owed the complete amount once she’s finished what she agreed to do.

Although the precise figure isn’t known, reports indicate she earns between $100,000 and $600,000, which is similar to what previous hosts of the show have made.

The payout is expected to be covered by Warner Bros. Discovery, the studio behind the production.

The ongoing investigation has also impacted The Bachelorette’s brand partnerships.

Despite earlier promoting products related to the show, Cinnabon announced on March 17th that it was ending its partnership with both Paul and the ABC series.

As a huge Cinnabon fan, I was surprised to hear they’ve decided to end their partnerships with both The Bachelorette and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. They officially announced it, and honestly, it’s a bit sad to see those sweet rolls no longer associated with those shows!

Due to recent issues and claims about a key actor, we’ve decided to end our partnership. Their actions don’t fit with what our brand stands for.
